Ok, I know my first post about trespassers caused some controversy over this topic but I've gotta update this with a part II. Not so much bad news but more of rant. Well as you may remember I had problems with snowmobiling on our property but no matter the means I did to deter them they still came onto our property. Finally put some heavy chains across the trail and wrapped them in flourescent tape, and added a big "No Trespassing" sign. This finally stopped the snowmobilers from entering our property.
Well here's the kicker, I was riding my four wheeler early this year (before spring) and noticed something in a tree. Upon further investigation I noticed it was a tree stand. Finding this stand got me curious as to whether there was anymore on the property...ended up finding a total of 4 tree stands. 2 Homemade wooden one's and 2 nice metal one's. I took all of them down, destroyed the 2 wooden one's and kept the metal one's for my uncle who's an avid hunter.
Finding these stands finally spurred us to replace the old faded "No Trespassing" signs. Ended up putting just under 200 signs up on the perimiter of our land. Thought all is well, then when I was cutting some trees down yesterday, to create a shortcut path for my four wheeler, I noticed in a tree a stand that was just put up. The hunter not only ignored all these signs but he/she made an absolute mess. Chopped a bunch of limbs off a very nice pine tree. Some of the limbs weren't even cut off all the way and were dangling off the tree. The stand had been put up within the past few days as the cut wood was still bright and the sap was still running. So I took the opportunity to collect myself another tree stand.
The really bad part is that we have a total of 3 hunters that do have permission to hunt but because of these other hunters who cant obey the signs, they cant hunt because these @$$holes are wandering around the woods to get to their spot. We talked to one of the hunters who has permission he told us he got out to his spot and there was a few hunters wandering around the property (he didn't know who they were so he just left).
I guess my next day off I'll have to sit out in the woods myself and see if I can spot any hunters and where their coming from. I know it may sound like no big deal to most people but its very aggrevating that we are being disrespected like this. I finally got a chance to talk to my neighbor who spends the workweek in another city and comes home on weekends. He was told by another neighbor that the snowmobilers riding his property (which is also posted BTW) told him that they knew my neighbor wasn't home so what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him. Sorry for the long rant but needed to vent, some of you provided good info. on this previous post so if you have any other ideas I'd like to hear them.
