Was cruisin around tonight and spotted a late 80s trans am (305 V8) so I followed it until they stopped and talked for a few minutes. We proceeded to a country road and he did the countdown. This was my first race against someone who I didn't know, and also my first race since removing my 60lb spare out from behind the rear axel.
The race: I really didn't expect the traction issues to be so severe. I launched at about 1,200 RPM and floored it from there. Easily spun until about 35mph, and left 30 or 40ft of really black marks down. Because of this the trans am got me from the line until about 40 when I started to catch (1 length behind) and then I just FLEW by it! We agreed on another race and I remembered to take OD off this time :jester: and launched at about 1/2 throttle. There was still a little spin but very minor. I fell 1/2 length behind from the line, but was winning by 30mph again. His comment at the end was "Ok ok, you've made your point!"
Summary for those to lazy to read it, 305 Trans Am, I burned him quite badly.
