Okay ...here is what I have check and found good..
Here is what is wrong..when engine reaches operating temperature, it will SOMETIMES stall when in drive..throws NO code..Its starts right up..
I do notice that sometimes before it stalls I can feel the engine stumble slightly when driving.. Sometimes it wont stall for 2 days, sometimes it will stall tow or three times.

2002 CC RT 70k miles

What I have done:
Cleaned both battery cable ends..( I just thought now that maybe I should check the factory splices?)
Exchanged battery at Walmart for free
IAC, crank position sensor,TPS..I have a place that will let me return them if its not the problem..
I cleaned the inside of the throttle body the best I could with it on the truck..and yes I know its better to take it off.

ANY IDEAS? I appreciate any and all help, Im a single dad just trying to make it.
Bob

Could it be the ethanol in the gas? this started about a month ago..
Maybe PVC or EGR? It only happens at operating temperature

i was going to say crank sensor but since you have replaced that and its made no difference id say no. is there anyway you can check for pending codes in the pcm? how many starts since cleared?

when it stumbled and dies do the gauges freeze?
if you have access to a fuel pressure gauge, leave that hooked up for a day in the windsheild and make sure its around 49psi -+ 5psi

how did you check for codes? with a actual scanner or autozone or a programmer. you can only check pending codes that havent turned into a active code with an actual scanner like a snap on, or drb or maybe some other brands. but my next step would definetly try finding a fuel pressure gauge and seeing what that looks like in the moments it starts acting up.

It's either gonna be a pcm although they usually won't restart for a bit if that is the issue but it all depends, a cam position sensor which is located in the distributor or th edistributor itself...this is just a guess based on your symptons, what you have repalced already adn what "normally" casues this issue. If it were a fuel related isseu the vehicle wouldn't just shut off all of a sudden adn then restart right away.

thats what i was leaning towards l1. pcm has my thought. thats why i was wondering if he was able to see starts since cleared, that would be able to tell if the pcm is dying out and coming back. i had a 01 dakota doin the same thing. suddenly dying out and would fire back up.

Would a bad MAP sensor exhibit these symptoms?
It's possible but only if the MAP were shorting and grounding out the 5 volt reference wire, without the 5 volts reference the vehicle will just die instantly. If the 5 volt reference stays shorted to ground then you get the no bus message on the dash which everyone seems to think is clearly an indication of a bad pcm.

Full tune=up using all Mopar Performance parts last year..about 7k miles ago.
Here is something interesting.. I drove the exact same distance today, as I did yesterday. and the truck started to exhibit the stall behavior at the exact same point on the road...Which is about 8 miles.. I think this is the point at which the engine had full warmed up.. is this any help?

Just as a question, did it start to get a little colder about a month ago. I am having the same problem. Truck starts and runs fine until it gets to operating temp. Then it stumbles and stalls. Then runs fine the rest of the day. I will watch this thread and let you know what I find if I fix mine.

I'm new to this site but my Dakota is doing the exact same thing. I'll be watching this thread to see if there is ever a fix for your problem. I've replaced Idle air motor, PCM (twice), throttle positioning sensor, Crank sensor, cleaned battery cables, all to no avail. Mine shuts off while driving just like someone shut off the key! Sometimes if I keep my foot in the gas it will start back up on it's own and lunge forward. Sometimes it will start right back up sometimes I have to pull over and crank it for a few minutes. I have always been able to start it back up and it will run for a short time before it happens again, sometimes a few days and sometimes only one day. Sometimes it will die two or three times in one day. Had it to two dealerships and my regular mechanic. All stumped. Mine did pull a code...says misfire on (various) cylinders. Also, said there was an interrupt to the PCM (5 volt). I don't know what to do now. So, like I said, I'll be watching this thread maybe we can figure this out if we all share our info.

I thought I had it figured out as a ground..or maybe PVC valve.. So I replaced PVC, and not only checked all ground points, but ran a second ground from battery to frame..I ran over 100 miles of stop and go yesterday, everything was perfect..
Last night go 2 miles from house and it stalls..The stall will only happen when I come to a complete stop, or shifting into park, N,etc..
Mine ALWAYS starts back up like nothing had happen..First touch of the key..
I am leaning to a part in the distributer maybe??

tested it..all good..
By buddy has a cam position sensor that im going to swap in and drive for a few days..
I should have it in a few days.
I'll keep you posted..My mechanic at work who is old school says that sometimes that one of the pickups in the distibutor may likely be bad..Our distributors use a cam position sensor, so thats my guess now...
