Need to replace the steering shaft in my 97* Dakota sport because of a rusted out u-joint. problem is I can't afford the 300-400 price tag on a new one and there are 0 Dakota's in the area I can scavenge off of. I saw this post in 2008. http://www.dakota-durango.com/forum/showthread.php?t=70275, but the picture shows the new shaft being shorter than the original. Can somebody please tell me if a regular Dakota's, not sport edition, shaft will fit mine. I can find plenty of those steering shaft but none for the sport edition and iv'e been told it will not work because it is to short, yet the new 1 in that picture on that post is also shorter.
So simply put I need to know the lengths of the shafts and what will work. Thanks for reading.
