You need the engine, TB, fuel rails, PCM. Ideally you will need a 46rh tranny. The v6 tranny is OK, but not as stong as the V8 one. New fan shroud or cut back the existing one. The AC compressor lines may be too short - you won't know until you put it in there. You will need to splice some wires into your existing harness for the extra 2 injectors as well. Lots of stuff you should consider replacing while it is out - motor mounts, sensors, etc. I am sure there is more that needs to be done that I may be forgetting.

or you could just get the v8 harness that may come with the motor. you can use the v6 trans, just build it up real good (internally wize), and get all the upgrades for it, and it will last ya a nice long time. you may want to do the motor over from stock, bore it over to your choice--.010, .030, .040, .060... stroke it out, prefer a 4' crank, get some good heads, update the rocker arms, and related valvetrain, update the oil pump in there as well...

all in all a stock motor, your looking at 1500-2500.oo and the full tilt 318 or a 360 4500-7500.oo these estimates are rough, and will change due to how much you are willing to do, and how much is needed to farm out the work.

thanks for replying! roughly, how much would all of this cost?
re-read my post my friend...

stock motor (meaning you get it, and just toss it in)...roughly...2500.oo

modded v8 ...roughly .........4500-8000.oo.......depending on what you do with the motor, and if you want a supercharger or not and suff.

i have read your post. but is that total for all the parts? im just looking for a stock motor right now. i dont have the money for a built one. im only 17 years old. i have a part time job as a mover and make 9.50 an hour when there is work on the weekends.

now, is that for all the parts to complete the project? or just the motor alone for 1500-2500 for a stock motor?

my misunderstanding. i had bought a complete motor and trans out of a dodge ram one time a few years ago, for like 2000.oo. the wire harness was a mess, but it was salvageable. you could alsways check the bone yards in your area or on ebay...

YOur best bet would be to get a doner truck with a 318 already in it and swap everything over that does not need replacing. If I ever do an engine swap I am going to get the whole harness for the new engine. I have a 3.7v6 and it runs good and is kinda quick, but I want to upgrade to a somewhat built 4.7 at some point. I would love to do a 360, but then i would have to replace the trans as well. Who knows that may never happen. i guess I should have got the 4.7 when i bought the truck new.
