Well, where do I begin? I have a 92 Dakota w/ auto tranny. I am switching to a manual tranny. I have a NV3500 ready to be installed but I ran into a problem. I bought a flywheel for a 92 dakota manual w/ 143 teeth, and a clutch 2 match. When we tried to install it it was too big. The holes all match but it was too big in diameter like it was hanging off the sides of the back of the motor. The flywheel looks like a really tight fit into to tranny too. The flywheel for the NV3500 is the same size that I have already. The guys at Autozone werent too sure what to do(go figure) so we looked up a 91 model and the flywheel has like 133 teeth so its prolly smaller. Are the blocks the same? Will the 91 flywheel/clutch mesh w/ the NV3500. Someone who has done this swap will be very useful. Also, will I need a new sensor for the flywheel.

Ok, thanks. I understand now. My father in law is the one who tried to bolt it up and noticed the size. He or I didnt relize thats how its supposed to be. I bought the flywheel/clutch from Autozone. I already ordered the 91 parts but I will call tommorow and cancel that order and get my old stuff back. Now, do I need to change that sensor for the flywheel because it doesnt fit.

Ok, something just came to mind...Is the flywheel supposed to hang off? Do I need to get a different sensor for the flywheel because thats what was not allowing . Also, is the flywheel(143 teeth) going to only look like a tight fit but go in fine?

Ok, so the 91, 133 tooth flywheel/cutch will not work? The thing that has us confused it when I bought the first flywheel I got it for a 92 v6 manual(what I have, but orig. automatic). The flywheel was way too big. It should fit behind that block, right? Why would it be so big if its for a truck like mine. We looked at the 98 flywheel(what the tranny came from) and it was the same size. The only reason we got a 91 flywheel is because of the size. Are the blocks different?
