is it possible to convert the 6 lug daks back to 1st gen dak just want easier find wheels not sure on strength difference between rearends on 1st an 2nd gen and 4wd if spline count is same w/1st and 2nd gen have any of u guys heard anyone doing the conversion and with out issuses

You can buy lug adapters on Ebay. IM thinking of converting mine to 6x5.5 ( Chevy lug pattern ) for the same reason

axle splines are different... 27 vs 29 IIRC. You can get brand new axles made from moser or some other axle company for pretty reasonable. You should also be able to take your hubs to a quality machine shop and have them plugged and re-drilled for a few hundred bucks.

I would never put spacers or adapters on anything

spline change happened in 97, a 91-6 dak will have the same spline count as the older 5 lug trucks.....seeing as his is a 93, i would think as long as ma mopar didnt change the width of the axle housing, or the spindle up front, you could slap a set of 87-90 front disk/hubs and rear axle/drumsin and go with it for 5/4.5 IIRC lug pattern...

I recently used Moser to weld up and redrill my 2001 Dakota Front hubs to 5x4.5" pattern. They did a very nice job, very happy with them.
For the rear (9.25") I used Dutchman axles to make both axles with 5x4.5" pattern. Have not installed them yet but quality looks very good, 20% stronger than stock, nice machining, good to talk with, good prices, good turn around time. The '89 Dakota drums (5x4.5") are bolt on then.

hmmmmmm.... and the wheels start turning... i wonder what a first gen durango would look like with some of the new power wagon rims on it and perhaps some 33's or maybe even 35's?..... and now i have to find out.... this could get pricey....

Swap a complete rear end out of a 5 lug truck with a LSD. Make it worth the time!
