I am really considering keeping my truck after college now. Ill be "unlifting" and lowering it 2/3. So after graduation ill be getting the trans rebuilt (and beefed up a little) and then ill start working on the motor, headers, exhaust, higher ratio rockers or maybe a cam, v8 throttle body, 4.56 gears. and maybe like a 50-75 shot of the juice.... will i be in the real low 14's with that? What about if i found a blower for cheap instead of the nitrous, how hard is it to adapt to the 3.9 and would that plus the other things get me where i want to be

y not drop a V8 in there and start with something worth while? not saying u cant make a 3.9 fast but u cud make a 5.9 or even 5.2 way faster for much less...

I doubt a 75 shot would get a 3.9 club cab into the high 13's or low 14's. I would bet low 15s would still take a 100 shot.

As far as a blower on the cheap... yea if the engine can handle the boost you need to get the performance you want. Although most engines not designed for boost can only take 6-8lbs of boost with out breaking. If I am not mistaken 6-8lbs would give you about 100hp also.

its a regular cab. also, i dont want to do the swap, id just buy a new truck if that was the case, plus a fast v6 is more impressive than a fast v8.

Yea' the thought crossed my mind...

14.00's/13.90's in a Reg Cab Dak 3.9. That what I'm aiming for, the Vortech blower with most mounting hardware from a 5.9 should bolt up. Need fuel/engine mgmt system and that should do it. Likely about $2k. I'd need steeper gears than the stock 3.55 LSD in there now. But can calculate out tire dia. and see what works out for street and ocassional strip duty.

I like the way you think!:mullet:

4.10's for a 5 spd. 4.56's for an auto. You are gonna need some head and cam work besides the basic bolt on stuff to get 14's-13's. You can run a 75 shot with all the basic bolt on's and hit hi 14's I believe. Realistically though you are only going to be looking at around 150-175 at the wheels without major power adders.

everyone on this is big into the 4.10 and 4.56 gears.... have ya'll noticed the gas prices???:funny:

The TA I had (thank you again mr. cement truck for backing over my car) I ran the 3.23's and was running 7.2's at the local 1/8th. the guys who ran 3.73's had quicker 60' times but they MPH slightly higher but were slower down the track with 7.4-7.5's (7.8-8.0 if they spun) and way slower in the 1/4 from my understanding. :banana2:

going to 4.10's from a 3.55 isnt that big a deal. 4.56's i think are a bit much.the speed on the top end has alot to do with how the motor is built and trans too..

get a 52mm tb, intake work (port and polish--gasket match it to the intake), heads worked big time and deck the heads a little to up compression (.010-.015''), get headers, bigger y-pipe (2.25" pipe to a 3" single outlet), trans work, trans cooler. 1.7 rollers, or get that cam, custom length pushrods due to the heads being decked, get the computer swapped or get it flashed (whichever is cheapest).

mpgs wont matter too much for this truck, itll be a weekend cruiser, and a track vehicle, Im gettin a trailblazer, or tahoe for work that i get to take home and they pay for the gas, well 75% of whatever i use.

i know mad tricks for wieght reduction man hit me up with a pm if you want em.Iv shaved a good 300-400pounds of my clubcab with spending barely any money at all.most expensive piece of wieght reduction 120 dollar rol pan.

cam, heads, intake manifold, tb, gears, locker, nitrous, a shit ton of weight reduction, and slicks got someone a 12.8 in a V6 RC GenIII before...

Bernd? Duner?

so where do i join the SicSix at??:drive:

i have done all of the bolt ons except headers ( see sig) without going into heads, cam and other internals. im still runnin the 3.55/open diff. i have a stock intake that im about to start porting and polishing on. i put down 154hp/200tq at the wheels and ran a 17.56 @ 78mph. keep in mind, i have a quad cab. i weighed in at the track with me sitting in the truck at 4250lbs. i removed the spare tire, system, and back seats to try to shed some weight.

from what i have heard, the stock bottom end will hold up to a 75 shot of giggle gas or 6-8 lbs of boost. there is lots of power to be made in heads/cam but unfortunately, that costs big bucks. socal dakota has ported heads for $1800 IIRC. i cant remember how much hughes has them for.

Ok, so list up those diet mods you have there!:mullet:

As for MPG, who the hell cares, its all about the truck! If it got 40mpg and I hated driving it, it would sit. If it got 15 mpg, and I loved every minute behind the wheel... its worth it!:mullet::mullet:

And a Vortech kit from a 5.9 should be damn near a bolt-on. 6-8 PSI and 300 lbs of weight reduction should be well into the 14's.

Already have most of basic mods; V-8 TB, 1.7 RR, K&N, no headers though.

Need some info on the computer flash, programmer, or whatever you call it?

Anyone know the weight of a reg cab v-6 2-wd?

Oh, and someone asked about the "SixSix" club, well since I pulled that out of my ass, why not start up a Forum section, or even a club! Everyone with a V-6 could offer performance tips, etc...

:drive:Later...
