I just got a new Remanufactured front drive shaft today and installed it myself. I work at a hardware store, so I'm not a complete moron when it comes to nuts and bolts and what all to do with them but the truck just worries me a bit mostly because I did the repair myself instead of having a mechanic do it. That being said the hardest part of this repair was getting a socket on the bolts and having the room/leverage to turn the darn thing. I'm pretty sure God himself would have had a rough time. I used a few drops of locktite on each bolt but I'm just curious if anyone else has done this repair?
That being said, I tested it out today got it up to about 50mph in 4WD hi with no problems at all. Ran it (much slower) in 4WD low and it ran great. Doesn't sound AT ALL like the old beat up one I had in there...resembled ball bearings in a meat grinder...Mostly I'm looking for assurance that it's working right or based on what I've said that it SHOULD be working right.
