So my rango's just been sitting around lately, I've gotten back onto my Harley in this warm weather. Decided to jump in her and give her a lap to make sure everything was okay. At Idle it would sit at about 1100 RPMs for a second, then rev up almost to 3000, then drop back down and do it again. It has always idled around 1100, but that was new.

Did a bit of research and decided to try cleaning my TB. Truck has 160k on it and I'm pretty certain it hasn't been cleaned by any previous owners. Pulled it off and it was pretty cruddy. Bought a can or carb and tb cleaner and a bottle of goo gone. Cleaned the TB, the TB Spacer, and all the sensors while I was at it. Put it all back on and truck idles smoothly at 700. It hasn't idled that nice since I have owned it.

Spent 7 bucks on goo gone and carb cleaner. Called a the stealership just out of curiosity, and a TB cleaning there is around 150 bucks, and they don't even take it off to clean it completely. Easiest fix ever haha.:mullet:

Haha, even if it is flamable, it would be like adding fuel to a controled fire. What would it hurt, more like cleaning and adding octane booster. Throttle body is highly flamable always any, meant to be. Just saying...

Goo Gone does leave a residue, so if it gets on the outside of the TB, just saying i'd hate to see something go up in flames because of something like that. if it's all just internal, then yeah, i'm with you, WGAS, haha

Goo Gone is oily, make a mess, clean it up?

Everytime I use goo gone for anything, I go back over with something else to clean it off cause it is oily and will stay, thats just me. Screw it, ignite it after use, I want a video! :mullet:

Like I said I took the TB and spacer all the way off the truck and did it on a work bench, so I cleaned everything out. All the sensor ports and everything. I hit it up with carb cleaner after, so no residue or nada.
