ok, got a quick question on a clearance issue. i have h-beam rods, which as most know you have to clearance the block for them. well, all that is good....my issue now is with the oil pump pickup tube. how much clearance is safe for the pickup tube. i have provided a pic to help. right now it probably has about 1/16" clearance...maybe just a tad more, but not quite 1/8". look at the pic and let me know...i just wanna be safe. thanks.

If it will rotate past it, it's clear IMO. My windage tray is that close in places. You could squeeze it a little with pliers if it bugs you though.

yea...i tried squeezing it already...total PITA and wouldnt budge. i might have to heat it up first though. i've been just taking a dremel and sanding it down a little at a time. i'm just afraid to keep doing that cause i dont know how thin the wall is getting now. i'm just trying to think safe cause this is my first engine build, and i've got ALOT of money tied into it. i'd hate to have something screw up on the first startup or when i first get my foot in it. how much play does a rod have at 5500 rpm? i mean, it shouldnt move toward it at all right?

Removing material from the tube is the last thing I would do!! You shoulda started with heating and bending, or just removing it, dimpling it and installing it.

i have h-beams in mine as well and i haven't had any issues with the pickup tube and i didn't touch it.
