Anyone know if there is a difference between the 4x4 rotors and 4x2 rotors. I am looking a the years of 03 and 04, If anyone knows about 01-02 4x2 vs. 4x4 that would help also

I think 4x4 rotors slide off the hub...and the 2wd rotors have the hub attached

That's the way it is on the Gen II Dakota's anyway

no the hub is attached to the spindle on the both the 4x4 and 4x2 for the 01-04 and prob the 97-00 also but i dont know that for a fact. I guess i will stop by advanced and take a look at both of them. Hopefully someone can chime in. thanks for the info though little blue guy

I meant the rotor just slides off the hub on a 4x4...the rotor is actually part of the hub on a 2wd....meaning that you have to remove the wheel bearings to take rotor off....

yeah i got that. they both let the rotor slide off on the gen III with out taking off the hub.

Ok...then they should be the same....the only difference could be the thickness....auto part store should be able to tell you

They're the same AFAIK.

I do recall that the rear discs were different from Dakotas to Durangos though...not sure if that matters to you, but just throwing it out there.

thanks. i knew about the rear. i am getting getting a whole rear from a Durango to put on my daily and the front i have spindles from a Dakota that should work. I found a great price for rotors and pads but they didn't say if they were for a 4x4 or 4x2 while other sites give two different parts for the front. Rockauto gave the same part for the 4x2 and 4x4.

they are the same...dodge aint gonna go thru all that much hassle to keep everything the same in the brakes minus the rotors.
