Also found this http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/215820-abs-equipped-9-a.html to solve the VSS situation. Saweet.:D:woot:
I have considered this option more times than you can think of, and the only thing that may hold you back from doing this is getting the hole in the differential housing drilled perfectly correct in order for it to read correctly on the tone ring. Remember that the housing is cast iron, and if the hole is in the wrong position, then it's hard to get it the right one once a hole has been drilled.

There are a few ways to tackle the VSS problem, for me it wasn't a problem. My truck has had some sort of different axle configuration under it for a while now and the trans shifts fine...could shift better though. Onto what I researched:

A. I was "told" that the VSS WILL read the Ring gear, so I drilled a whole in the back-top part of the housing for a place to mount the stock VSS. Truth be told I am lazy and wanted to start beating on my junk so I never got around to actually attaching it.

B. You can actually tap into speed sensor in the trans/t.case. You will then need a gadget (dakotadigital.com) to trick the signal into thinking its counting on different intervals. Tweak the signal until it gives the proper MPH and your good.

These are not things that I actually tried, just things that I researched back when I was using half-ton stuff. Then I just went retarded with it:
That's some good info , thanks.
