I have a 92. On ours you have to thread it out. I rented a special adaptor from advance auto parts to get it out. It actually is not that hard of a job to do. I did both uppers on mine during my suspension redo. Just make sure you take your time doing it. The threads are kinda wimpy and if you strip them out you'll most likely have to weld it in place. I'll try to find the diagrams and post them up for you.
 
You can screw them back into place. Run a weld around them. On the next change you'll have to grind the weld out. Buy a good quality ball joint and you'll be ok.
