I need some help with this. It's a 4.7 l 4x4. I've have read where a lot of guys was having problems with there remote start throwing this code. Well mine has had one on it for two years now with no problems. I have reset code and it clears until I put it into gear. I also followed the pcm reset along with disconnecting the neg. post battery. This time instead of the prnd light not being there at all. It was scrolling from left to right non stop like it was searching for a gear. When I placed it into gear the cel came back on and the scrolling box went mia..LOL Now while shifting back and forwards sitting in driveway when placed back in P or N the tranny would just buzz a little. Sounds like inside the pan itself. I know that 3 to for years ago the tranny would act like it didn't want to shift into low gear if it set for a week or two so my GF started driving it more. This time it was sitting in the driveway for about nine days and I went to move it and now the Durango has became the THIRD vehicle setting in my drive way with cel issue's. I'm thinking it's a solenoid not the tcm but, I'm just getting my hands dirty on this one. I did find a web page that would sell me one if I give them the vin/contact info for 199. http://store.allcomputerresources.com/2002020dodut.html
Do you guys think it's the tcm or could it be a solenoid? Sorry for long post but need at least one running right for I work nights and she work days but this is her car so the "CEL" has to go. Thank you for your time.

Just went out and used the key and the codes read p0700 and p1698. I thought I found something when I got the new p700 code but it's just a generic code for transmission problems:( I wish that some of the guys having problem would come back on here and follow up on what actually fixed it.

Thanks Taz for the reply. The prnd21 is always there (well when the key is turned on) it's the indicator box the goes away. The remote start was installed by a stereo shop that was recommended form friends at work. This Christmas will be 3 years since it's been installed with no issue's until now. I did start it with the remote while sitting in it and the ID-block was there until I turned the key and tapped the brake. It will not drop down to passing gear or a lower gear while climbing the hill coming into our neighborhood. Also it's a (3 plug PCM) and has the (1 plug TCM) located next to the radiator passenger side.

OK! I checked all the fuse's. I'm not sure about the "A" and "F" in the PDC. My PDC is only labeled "A" and "B" so I'm guess it the same as your applying. It had a small blade fuse and a relay labeled trans. . Once again I wasn't to sure about the relay check so I swapped it with the wiper replay. All relays had the same numbers on them along with looked the same. Everything check out good with the meter. Went back through "ALL" the fuse's just to be sure. I also climbed under Durango and checked all plug/wire's for any breaks and lose plugs. Then I tried to reset code with no luck. So I then unplugged the brake and used the RC to start and drove around block with no issue's what so ever trans. shifted right and dropped down to passing gear as well I had forgot how much ump she has...LOL "well except the brake lights not working and throwing the ABS light :(. So I guess everyone was right it has to be the RC. But it has worked flawless for almost three years now. Should I replace or just remove it all together? Oh and the code reader I have will not reset the CEL anymore.
I then disconnected the battery and turned the switch on for 30sec. with no luck. So now I have the PCM disconnected. Will go back out in a min after drying/cooling a little bit and hook back up. Again thank you so much for your time.

Well tried them all even the one's that you didn't highlight. You think I should just swing by the parts store and pick up a ignition switch or focus around the buzzing while in park? By the way that was some great diagram and very thrall instruction's.

Thank you Taz! I believe that the switch is my problem. Where going camping this week end and I'll put the new one when I get back but, Tap the old around a little and plugged it back up and everything was normal again. I will reply with a follow up Monday to let you know for sure . Thank you again hope you have a great weekend.

Well Taz sorry for the late reply. But got home late Sunday night and installed the switch and had to take nap for midnight shift. But the switch has fixed it for now I've drove it for two days and no problem. However i drove my f250 to town Monday and just got it towed home today :(. I think there is just a BIG BLACK cloud following me around right now. So with that said I've been trying to get it back on the road. And it has took up all my time. But the good thing is mama's Dan-go is back on the road and it's all thanks to you hope you can help many more. It's great to have people out there like you again Thank You for your time and effort's. May God Bless You!
