hi i'm made 4 passes some weekends ago and my best run was 15,08; 2,148 in 60ft. full stock (dakota r/t 2000 regular cab).

now yesterday i returned to the track, i remove juste the air filter et lower my rear pressure tire a 20psi. that's all i did different from the first time and my worst time was 14,77 and better (very happy of it) 14,54..also the first run of the day:jester:

question 1
does just the fact i remove the air filter, lower pressure tire and gently smoke the tire will reduce time about half a second or i wasn't good enough the first time?

question 2
for a full stock regular cab...street tire, let te trans shift by itself (o/d of too)14,54 is good....average...or ???

thanks

That's a very respectable e.t. for a stock truck. What was your 60' this time?
Lowering the tire pressure and removing the air hat couldn't have possibly hurt, that's for sure.

Im assuming its a regular cab? The stock airhat/intake will net you some decent power. I saw as much as 2/10ths/3mph difference on my 2000.
I wouldnt go lower than 25psi on the rear tires... and over inflate the front ones to ~40. :D

my gaz tank was empty...the last white mark on the gauge...(1/8) both time.

don't know all the secret of drag racing but a big fan..it's my sport now!!! :jester:but wich is better??? cold outside so the air enters more cold in engine but the track is more cold too or a hot track un sunny day of summer.

first time it was about 25 degrees celcius(don't know in F sorry guy) and full sunny day...so a hot day of summer...last one was yesterday.18 degrees so a cold day.

one of official guy said to me: more the day advance, guys realize better time...true or false??

Well for that there is a happy median, too hot of a track and the tires slip of the track and too cold of a track and the tires never stick becaue the track is too hard. But I'm in Florida and when I mean too hot of a track I mean like when it is 90-100+ dgrees outside. When it is like 60 degrees outside the track will cool of pretty quickly and also be pretty crappy for racing. So I would have to say warmer is definetly better but only to a certain extent.

so u removed th entire air hat off ur tb and gained a few tenths?? sweet, ima do th same on wed! also i was told to unplug th connector to ur a/c and turn ur ac on..it helps bump ur timing forward a little, which is also good for a tenth i believe

Taking the airhat off makes a difference, lowering the pressure in your tires helps to, the thing with the a/c makes a difference (I don't know the specifics but I have heard of it before), I've also heard of wetting you belt down before you race to make it slip on the other pulleys freeing up more horsepower. I'm sure there are a few other things that I can't think of right now to though.

Well yeah but besides little dust and dirt particules your not really danger of sucking anything else bigger in. It's okay just for a day the track but you shouldn't do it every day. But there is the freak accident thing with some big bug getting sucked in or a rock or something. You could just secure a piece of screen over the TB just for some extra insurance to keep the really big things out and I can't imagine that it would slow the airflow down much at all. But definetly make sure if you do antything like that ot make sure it is securely fastened to something. But if it were me I really wouldn't worry about it too much, but keep an eye on your oil if this is a weekly thing because it can cause your oil to become dirty faster.

rite on man! thanks! yea i think ill play it safe since i cant afford anything to happen and use a piece of window screen over th tb and secure it with a hose clamp or ziptie..cant wait to see my new times, especially if i get traction lol

no i only remove the air filter from the box... i want to test...but not enough time to test both..just filter and entire ai box disconnect from air hat
