Hey guys,

I had my drivers side door replaced, after being slightly hit.

I have been searching the net to try to find where the door sensor is located.

When I open my driver side door, the interior light will not come on.

When I open the passenger side door, the light comes on just fine.

Not sure where on the door or the cab that the sensor is located.

I had replaced the CTM.

Thanks

Door sensor

Thanks for the quick reply.

I know how to remove the door panel, but you say this is part of the latch.

Is tehre an electrical connector or something with this?

Thanks

yeah there is one electrical connector that goes to the door latch. it has 4 wires. 2 are for the power lock, 1 is a ground and the last one is the door open signal. When the door is open it sends a ground signal to the ctm. I dont remember what color it is but its easy to test for. it might be black with a light green tracer but test to make sure.

If I spliced into that wire and hooked it to one of the lock wires....do you think it would be possible to have the lights turn on and off with the door lock and unlock? and would it still work when you opened and closed the door?

you mean to make them blink or something? Because the only thing that would do is make the lights come on when the lock is pulsed. So they would only flash once and to do that you would need a relay. If you want them to turn on anytime they are unlocked and then turn off only when locked you can do that with a couple of relays but that would probably be pretty annoying for those cases where the doors need to be unlocked but you dont want the lights on.

If you want the lights to come on and stay on when you unlock the doors (courtesy lights), it is easy to do with an aftermarket alarm and an extra relay but you dont have to do it at the door. you can do that at the headlight switch or the ctm.

When I unlock my '01, the interior lights come on. I think it's part of the security system.

Yeah that's a good point...I don't know what I was thinking on that :jester:

It looks like I'll just have to do that relay....

The stock key FOB works with the lights....any aftermarket FOB for some reason doens't....
