I am kind of new to the truck scene. I bought my truck from a dealership that has no idea what had been done to the vehicle. My question is, what color are the stock blocks in the R/T's. The one in my truck is red and I would LOVE to know some way I can find out exactly what it is. IF it is a crate motor, any ways to tell which one it may be?

Thanks

Alright and is there a specific place that it would be located at? I am not around my truck right now, but next week i'll be back in VA and putting all the new parts on her.

The crate motors are orange. Doesn't mean that someone didn't paint yours. The 360 magnum blocks are all the same. The crates are .020" over. Other than that the rest is the same internally.

Good deal, I was unaware of this. Always thought they were red. Just seems like a LOT of effort to completely remove and engine just to paint it red, but hell it's possible I guess.

Thanks for the info.

Lol Damn man that is a lot of extra work. My truck is very very clean which makes me believe that someone may have painted it just for show quality. Anyways, there is NO way I would ever do this. I'm still going to check up on the casting numbers and what not. Maybe they just bought a different engine and painted it before putting it in.

Its not beyond the realm of possibility that the engine was replaced.
Another thought is....gasp.... someone might actually have pride in the vehicle they own and wanted to keep it looking nice that way.

I take very good care of my vehicles and have much pride in how they look. I just personally think taking an engine out and painting it just for it to look nicer is a bit much. Maybe they blew the original engine i'm thinking. Truck has pretty low miles, 58k for a 99, soo nothing would surprise me with it. lol

In either case, I will look up the numbers and post back up next week when I get home and can get her in the air.
