I know zero about diesels, but IMO, if he does have a chip in it, you could have quite a challenge on your hands. You gotta watch those diesels, with a chip and a little turbo work they can be pretty quick from what I hear.

true, i know diesels can be hopped up like crazy, but say he races on stock mode. Would I have the edge, he has to outweight me by a lot.

My buddy has an Edge/attitude in his D-max and he beat my neighbor in his Audi S4. FYI, the Audi s4 also had a chip and my neighbor said he was good for 300+ hp. I could beat my buddy's D-max when he was stock, but not a chance now. If you race the d-max, make him pull the chip out so you KNOW its not being used.

Why make him remove his mods? Run what you brung is what I always say. That's like someone telling me to just take off my charge pipe and run them NA when my truck is set up for a supercharger.

He said the D-max would race in "stock mode" and since the programmers can be altered on the fly, I was just suggesting to remove it to prevent the D-max from "accidentally" bumping it up a level or three....lol. I agree with the "Run what you brung", but a chipped deisel against a n/a dakota is not a fair race.

ok ive done a little research. Ive got 235hp, hes got 300hp...but he weights about 1400 lbs more than me, so i dont see how he could beat me.

also...this kid talks more crap and is full of more crap than anyone i know, im not saying he DOESNT forsure have the chip, but it wouldnt surprise me if he is just trying to scare me off since he doesnt want to lose. If I get absolutely smoked im guessing he does have one tho, otherwise I think I can take him. Hopefully we will find out this weekend

You fergot hes prolly got 600ftlbs of torque, and torque moves mass. I think it will be even stock. And he will destroy you chipped.

well if you could pull your 31s in favor of something more like 27inches tall and race it in 4wd to prevent wheel spin. does he even have 4 inch exhaust on it? diesels like all motors are all about air flow. from a stop i think you'd take him but don't race from any kind of roll if he knows his power band. my friend has a slightly modded cummins and at the right speed he'll hang with my barely modded r/t for a lil before i pull.

it will be close, a friend of mine raced one, and he has a 4.0 mazda 4000 pickup, which, man i hate to say this but crushes me, and the mazda got beat, but i have a 3.9 so with the v8 u might stand a chance if it is not chipped.

on the chip note...it was his idea to race me stock, not mine, i would never ask someone to downgrade there vehcile to race, thats just how cocky he is about his vehicles. He also has a 02 Sonoma ZR2 which he says can kick the crap out of me, lol. Ive driven a 4.3, and they are slowww, plus hes got 31's on there.

by the way he does have pretty beefy tires, so that might hurt him too.

Don't let those Diesels fool you. Even with big tires I have seen some haul A##. Watch him when he steps on it, if it unleashes a big cloud of smoke watch out :jester:. I smoked a Duramax with my Durango and my D was running 15.7 then. It wasn't even close I let off by the 1/8 mile mark :drive:. I have a buddy that has a Duramax also and he smoked my buddy with his Quad Cab Hemi, but he went 16.4 (26" rims and tires are killing his ET). Stock, you should hand him his A## :jester:

babyhemi, you got it

I saw him twice last weekend and neither time he asked to race (which is odd for this kid). He did however hammer the gas and it did bellow out black smoke and about 2 gallons of diesel smell on me-so he does have the chip. I also agree stock I would whoop his ass. Im not hating on deisels, I love diesels, and with very little money they can me made to haul ass, but stock they are made to haul other things...

Cool, the big black cloud is the tell-tale sign :biggthump. I have seen a few at the track and the black smoke was so thick on the starting line you couldn't even see the truck! Then all of the sudden you see this big diesel truck come flying out of the smoke to rip of some ungodly number for a truck that big :clap2:. When my pockets will let me afford one that's what I want with all the goodies :biggthump

Thing you have to remember of chipped diesles is that it's not like a chipped gas truck, where you can achive like 20hp from a tuner, those diesles will gain up to 150hp and 300lbs of torque with the highest setting!!!...So definitly give respect there were the annual races here and there were four diesles representing, two fords, one chev, and one dodge...the mopar schooled the others, but the others killed most of the other ones. it was amazing to see, not only that, if the truck runs propane as well...your in serious trouble

I have a LT1 converted 1969 Camaro, and i went to my dad's friends wedding reception. It was a chicken roping (we do have class in "luzyana") Same as a cattle roping, just with chickens. Todd has a 65 mustang, but wanted to show me his Vette killer. Referring to his truck and me yelling bullshit in his face, he gets in his 03 Duramax and proceeds to molest my Camaro in a quick run. He bought 3 custom tunes and programmed it with a Hypertech tuner. With Mickey Thompson ET Streets, he ran a 12.7 on the race tune at Red River Raceway.

Wait until you see a Cummins diesel run 11's on the same strip.

The usual response from the crowds??

""Look at this sh*t!!!"

"Oh hell no!!!""

"Man, what the f*ck was that??"

Cousin runs a 2001 Ram 2500 CTD. Stock was 210 HP and 425ft/lbs torque.

He last dyno'ed at 439 HP and 860ft/lbs of torque.
