Whats up, wanted to show some pics of my project, the rancho lift just isnt capable of what I would like my truck to be able to do so I started my SAS

plans are for a hp44 up front with leafs, would love to do a 4 link but leafs are cheap and simple so I can live with them for now...here are some pics of some stuff I have done so far...I am in the middle of moving so I am waiting till I am in my new house untill I start to cut up the truck...lift, wheels, tires, rims, and any other part you are interested are also for sale, PM me...

for shock mounts I am using these hoops that I got from bule torch fab, came with tabs for axle end also and fit perfectly in the wheel well

this is the front cross member, I am running the shacles in the rear and using toyota springs from all pro...I made the shackles also from 3/8...they will be cut to lengthed and drilled when I am mocking up on the truck

I am using a 78 hp44. I wish the it didnt have cast wedges but they aren't in the way f my perches. I am running chevy outers for highsteer w/hydro...obviosly (from the leaks in the pic) I need a new PS pump. I am either going to replace with a stock unit and tap for hydro or go the route SpawnX did...I still need to clean and cut off the old perches from the axle and cut the highsteer arm off of the knuckle so it can be machined

Be very careful with the coil perches, you've holes under them!
Leave them as is.

Do a Google search on "Dana 44" and about 4-5 down is a "Mr.N" page, feel free to ask any questions.

NOTE: You can't clean off those coil perches. I tried this back in the 90's and thus my web page on Dana 44.

You'll need to buy a new core housing if you going to run anything other than the stock Ford Coils system. I suggest finding a 73-75, then a 76-77 halfton Ford housing.

I have read your site, lots of good info. with my spring width (31.5 center pin to center pin) my perches dont fall on the mounts for the radius arms. When I said cut off old mounts I mean the perches that were already on there. Leafs were already run on this axle. They are to wide for my app and meant to also eliminate the ubolts which I didnt want

axle tube is 3.5in diamiter where they fall so I will have no problem with the ubolts either. I am making my own perches and am familer with welding on cast so I am not worried.

I will have some new pics tonight, got the housing cleaned and primered today

Where are you located in NorCal?

Have you been to Bent and Twisted 4 wheel drive in Chico?

Here is the site I setup for mike the owner of Bent and Twisted. If you go into the forum on there it is primarily Chico people.

I've been there, bought some gussets from him...I am a member on the board to, just not really active since I sold the jeep...

got my springs, they are 5in toyota rears from all pro. the arch looks high, but this morning when I was mocking them up they are almost flat with the weight of the truck on them, if they end up being to stiff I will just pull a few leafs out. the springs will move the axle forwad about 2in from stock...

Jesus a 7 leaf spring pack?

Thickness of leaf(s) and length of main leaf at load rate (supporting truck)?

(Gonna run it's estimated spring rate)
I think the 44044's that I'm running are 6 or 7 leaf.

The packs are thick, but they are meant to be on the ass end of a 4runner which a a light truck. I think I will be able to run them like they are and be happy with the spring rate. I ran the 44044s before on my XJ and loved how they flexed, but I needed to be a little taller then my XJ sat which is why I went with these.
