I just bought a 360 4 bolt main that came out of a 1978 van. It is one with the box on the back thought. I think the box is like 9x18 foot. The motor has high output heads on it. I am goin to rebuild the motor and heads. Puttin a cam, headers and exhaust, and maybe better intake manifold and carb. on it. Just wanderin around how much hp and ft/lbs of torque I should have.

Also what would be some other good upgrades to do to it. I want to keep it carb. for right now.

we need more info to make any HP kind of guess, high output heads? that doesnt tell us anything about the heads. You said your gonna put a new cam, headers and carb on it it? Extra HP all depends on what combo of parts you use too.

Well that is what I am askin. I don't know much about Dodge's and don't know what combo of parts to go with and everything. And about the heads all I know if that I was told they are the high output heads.

What would be a good rebuild kit. I would like to have high compression.

the next question is what are u gonna use the motor for and what u want out of it? just something that runs good or u want to go all out with a big lift cam etc??

It is goin to be an every day driver but not for long. I would like it to be pretty quick but don't want to go all out.

What's your budget?

Not to be offensive, but let me correct a couple misunderstandings you have about your motor.

#1 there is no such thing as a 4 bolt 360 from Dodge. Period. End of story. That is strictly a SB Chev term, and doesnt apply to anything stock from Mopar. Especially small blocks.

#2 what cam/headers/intake and exh are you planning on doing? What CR are you going to run?

#3 which HO heads are they supposed to be? Are they X, J, U, 915 or some other type of early head? Or are they the late model smog/swirl port head?

You are kinda asking an open ended question that it will be very difficult to give you a straight answer about without ALOT more info on your plans.

well the sticker where the motor is said 360 4 bolt main.

as for #2 That is what I am asking. What would be a good combo. I don't know much about dodges and V8's. I would like to have around 10:1 compression I guess.

The heads I have no idea they are what came on it.

Ok then,

What are your goals? What are you putting this in and what do you want to accomplish with it?
