When going over 45-50mph the transmission jerks when it tries to shift...does anyone know what could be the problem? I checked the fluid before this happened and it was full.

This is '99 Durango with 5.9. It's the 46re tranny. My wife told me about the problem. I couldn't replicate it when I got home. But it was shifting kind of late (at very high rpm).
I adjusted the TV cable and change the tran fluid/filter and adjusted the bands.
Took it for a drive today and seems to be doing ok. It could shift a little smoother, but it's not bad.
The fluid in the tranny was kind of golden brown with the magnet full of metal shavings. I wonder if the previous owner ever changed the fluid.

I recently just changed my fluid, looked like yours. Changing old fluid does make a difference. Mine started to act funny so i changed it and now its golden :mullet:
