I purchased a used 2007 Dodge Dakota for a work truck. I found this community while trying to figure out what kind of wrench I need to remove the inner tie rod ends. I found several helpful hints here already. Thanks for having a good community to learn about my truck.

I'm glad that worked out for you!

A few notes for anybody else working on these trucks. Do not install the upper ball joint/arm again until you have taken the lower one off, and put the new lower one in.. There isn't enough room to clear the threads at the bottom of the bottom ball joint unless the upper one is not connected. It may be only in OEM situations, the newer ball joint has shorter threads and a castle nut, what is in the truck now has a longer shaft and locking threads. And yes, even though there is a nice snap ring, the bottom ball joint is still a press off situation and it will not just come out nicely. Tomorrow I find the press tool to get the bottom ball joint out of the bottom arm.

I'll keep that in mind.
I've never done the job, but I did red through it in the '03 FSM and I didn't think it called out for removing the top one to get at the bottom one. I'll take your word on that, however, and it could be that I just missed that part.
