I own a 2000 3.9l 4x4 dakota, when im in 2wd and i get stuck in the sand or mud only 1 tire spins and when i put it in4wd 1 tire from each end spins(on opposite sides) what is going on? :cussing: I noticed that i have posi-traction from when i changed my tires.

Ok let me see if I get this
In 2wd you spin only one tire on the rear. in 4wd you spin one tire on the rear one on the front but on opposite sides.
Thats a normal 4x4 you have two open ned differentials. thats ccompletely normal.
if you had posi/limited slip/ ( whateve ryou want to call it its all the same thing) then you would have both rear tires spinning and only one in the front

Its completely normal. i dotn think you have posi traction

You might have a LSD diff but being a 2000 it could be burned out.

Ive never had a LSD burn out. Mine is a 2000 and it spins the tires in the dirt. i jsut dont spin them and when I do I dont bury my gas pedal through the floor.
next on the list is a locker and some real gears if I keep this thing

good luck finding a front locker. :biggthump You and i both know they dont exist Hey what if you jsut welded up the front diff. Turning would be hell but hey youre locked in all the time

I dont think that would be a good idea. You could end up breaking your steering system. :sorry:

I think I've got this right:

If you've got the 9.25 diff there is the lockright by powertrax, the no-slip traction system by powertrax, and the detroit locker by detroit available.

If you've got the 8.25 diff there is the no-slip by powertrax, and the ARB air locker available.
