Please help!!

OK I just bought a 98 Dodge Durango magnum 4x4 with a 5.2L yesterday that just had the engine replaced with a used one. So I'm driving down the highway with my family in the car going 75 and she just died. I put it in neutral and she starts right back up. This morning going to work I got a block away from my house. same thing just dies it's like someone is just turning of the ignition. But theirs no engine light on or anything strange write? On my way home from work I noticed the voltage meter is low thin it jumps back up. So I look online for answers and I find out it might be the (pcm) or the alternator. My question is before I start wasting money how can I test to see what it is??

Since you said it just had an engine put in,I would be checking all the under hood grounds and misc connections.

and test the battery and alt x2 on all the connections look for connections that come apart easy because the clips broke you will have to zip tie those together to keep them from vibrating loose

Thanks guys I think I found the problem. The cables were loose on the alternator. It hasn't died since I tightened them up. I appreciate the help!!!
