hay adam what kinda material is that you used? Ive been wonting to so that to mine for awhile now im sure i can do the door panels but the roof and visors im not to sure about. Also if i did it were can i get some paint my overhead console and the brackets for the visors to match i think mine is Agate if thats the darker color or do you guys think it would look good to paint that stuff gloss black to match the paint?

I used black suede. The fabric for the door panels, center console and, back seats came from a local fabric shop. The headliner fabric came from distinctivefabrics.com (nice place, sends you samples of the material that you want to use)

In my personal opinion, nothing beats reupolstering the door panel insert completely. This is what I did....

-Removed the door panel
-Used a razor blade to slice off the melted tabs leaving the hollowed posts intact
-Removed the fabric (which is glued and stapled on) and then removed ALL the foam getting the panel back to nothing but a piece of black ABS plastic
-Cut out some vinyl with a leather grain and embroidered my truck's logo on there
-Used spray glue and glued 1/4" foam to the vinyl
-Reupholstered the panels with spray glue and staples on the back
-Reattached the panel with screws and fender washers

If you are uncomfortable with doing this yourself, please contact me via PM or email darren@madrt.com In addition to reupholstering visors, I'm going to start offering door panels reupholstered as well with embroidered logos.

Here's the end results, better than factory! :woot:
What type of foam did you use Darren? I tried doing the same thing with my door panels ('01+ style) except glued the foam to the panel first but it didnt quite work out. The glue went through the foam and screwed up the fabric :cussing:. So I just glued the fabric directly to the plastic.

BTW, where did you get the foam from?

I used 1/4" open cell foam. I get it through my mother's company (Interior Designer Services) so we order it from a local wholesaler.

I would look at a fabric store or upholstery store locally first and if you can't find anything, look at http://www.garysupholstery.com/upholstery-foam.html

not that hard to do just gotta carve it out of the foam before you cover the headliner or panel

Anyone ever try adding designs to the foam before laying on the fabric? some flames or a ram head would be badass!
I was going to do a "R/T" logo on my door panels with the foam, but the foam I had wasnt dense enough to keep it's shape (squished flat). So I just recovered it with my fabric. I should have put down a layer of foam on the back of the fabric b/c you can kinda see where some of the screws are the hold the panel in place :cussing: Oh well, guess you learn from your mistakes.

Same thing happened to me. The "T" looked fine, but the "R" became one big blob.

Even though this is a tutorial for removing the door handle, maybe this will help....

You have to slice off the 10 plastic melted tabs and then pop off that cloth panel. Looks like two of the tabs are in conjunction with the door handle.

just using a razor blade to cut away the melted tabs, but my razor is kinda dull.. think its time for a new one :jester:
Well, you may need to get a dremel with a cut off wheel because some of those tabs are really melted in the plastic of the door panel. It'll take more than just a razor blade to get them off. AND you may have to get a flat screwdriver to pry it out of the holes but be carefull you dont want to break those posts off the panel.

i got 'em cut down so they're basically all smooth, but some of 'em dont really give any when i try to pop it out...should i just quit being a sissy and pop them suckers out or what? i really dont wanna break these things :slap:
