If it's built with PIPE it is a light bar regardless. It'll probably crush with less stress than the cab. Pipe and tube are completely different things.
I probably mis-stated the fact that it is structural tubing that we use at work [asphalt plant for supporting feeder bins and silos etc.] So it is structural tubing, but I would also consider it a lightbar, as that was the purpose I intended it for, I never hope to be in a situation where it needs to take a load.

On a different note, I no longer have the round flood lights but a full Whelen lightbar with the works [strobes, floods, flashers etc]

Thanks for all the comments:wave:

Why would pipe not be considered structurally sound for a roll bar?

I am a steel fabricator and a lot of load bearing and protective structures are made of pipe. Are most race cars and off road trucks using pipe? Or you could call it 3" round tube. Pipe / tube is stronger than square HSS...

That light rack looks good for having metal around the house or shop. I agree with using a bender for more strength and attaching to the frame but looks good. Was the tube rusty? lol

Yes it was rusty as it had been out on the racks for a while, all of our steel is stored outside. But each joint was cleaned before arc welding, and mineral- blasted before paint. But normally when we are fabricating structural elements we don't worry much about the rust when using an arc welder.

look sharp! i wouldnt mind makin a light bar out of 3" exhaust pipe. this is actual pipe, as in like 1/4" wall thickness??? that things gotta be heavy as shit!

Yes it's heavy- dont know the weight but I used a skid steer to lift it and put it in.
