ive got a 1997 dakota with the 44re trans installed and it has went out, my question is ive been told that, that transmission has to be replaced with the same trans from another dakota, of the same year.....i cant use a trans from say a 2000 dakota or a trans from a 1997 ram....it has to be from a 1997 dakota only.....is that true, if so why :huh:

not to beat a dead horse here, as long as it comes from a 97 dodge product and is a 44re, im good to go.....reason im askn there is a 97 ram in the local yard with a 5.9 motor, not sure on the trans, i gotta go back and look, but if it is a 44 it should work, right :huh:
