Any one ever take out a quad cab headliner??? It looks somple enough to get loose but the BIG question is........will it come out of the truck???

I currently have my headliner fabric held up with push pins and it is time to take action........just want to make sure it is gonna come out once I get it unfastened becuase it looks like it won't fit out the door without possibly turning it 90 degrees and I am not sure that is possible inside the truck.

Any experiences with a quad cab would be appreciated.

Thanks,

DD

Yep.......pulling the seat would have been the best way, however it does come out the drivers side rear door with 2 people and a little wiggling with the drivers seat laid all the way back.

I took the simple route and just coated the headliner shell with some black, flexible underbody coating. Now realize my interior is grey so the two tone between the headliner and visors, handles, overhead console looks really cool in my opinion. Looks kinda like bed liner material and gives the truck a much roomier feel........and no more road noise than with fabric........I was concerned about that before I did it.

Anyway........very happy for about 2 hours worth of work and a total cost of $5.

And the BEST part.........my headliner will NEVER be a problem again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are a few pix..........

As you can see I frosted in some gray and red just to break it up and give it a little depth (according to my wife)!!!
So let me get this straight, you sprayed your headliner with body undersealer? Don't get me wrong, the result looks great and I'm impressed but what is the texture like? isn't it a bit sticky in hot weather?

I might be doing this project this weekend haha. Its crazy but as old as my truck is,I really dont care how it looks to others when they get in nor do I care what the dealer would say if I ever sell it because they wont give me crap for the truck anyway.

But details would be nice. Sand the foam off or leave it? What spray or will any rubber undercoating spray do?

Interested in replacing my whole headliner, any more info on taking it out and replacing it? Or just take it out and replace the material on it?

You have to take all the trim off the headliner, and the two christmas tree clips. Front seats need to be unbolted and moved so the headliner comes out the back rear doors. I recovered it, no need to replace whole thing unless the backing and supports are shot.

Ok, I haven't done anything to it yet. Just getting an idea of what I need to do. The edges of the cover material are starting to come off and sag. Thanks

no problem. You could easily fix it with thumb tacks like my buddy did. :D haha. Now hes on the way to having me do it.

I have a collection of fire pins arranged in the headliner, so it wouldn't be noticed. lol Problem is that its spreading, seems like every day more and more of the edge is coming off. Id hafta use my whole pin collection to hold it up. lol

thats what my buddy did LOL.

I replaced the one in my 2003 QC with one from a u-pull-it. To remove the one from the donor truck, I took a hammer and broke the rear glass. Of course, I couldn't be so cruel when it came to install it in my truck. Well, I had to take out ALL the seats to get it in without too much bending. This includes the rear seats and seat backs. THe headliner went in through the rear passenger door. Be sure to orient it correctly when putting it, else you'll be kicking yourself.
