I have a CB/PA set up in my truck tuned and ready :D My friends and I use them.

well the 318 in my new CC appears fine; new driver side header gasket, cobbled 2 plug wire sets together to get 1 usable set for testing purposes, (all on driver side in CC body were BBQ'd) found what turned out to be swapped injector wires on 5 and 7 (was that way from before I bought the truck) and ultimately a bad #5 injector and it runs awesome; good oil pressure showing on gauge, no eng noise (but that damn Flowmaster MUST go to scrap I cannot stand those pieces of crap) I just hope it wasnt run that way long enough as to wash out the #5 cyl and piston; the PO told me the engine was shot. It doesnt appear to be but the tranny is bad as originally advertised. I still wanna do a wet and a dry compression test before settling on the current engine thats in the CC; I am hoping its OK as it has 30-ish K miles less on it than the engine out of the roll over did.... (130 showing on CC; rollover was rumored to have had 160-isk K)

Does anyone know a difference in drive shaft length (I have a 2 pc D'shaft) between a 2WD truck w/a 518 vs a 2WD w/a NV 3500? guessing that any and all difference could be compensated for in the front section of the driveshaft and leave the back half of it alone?

Don't quote me on this but i swear I remember reading somewhere its 7 inches longer. (the drive shaft)

which is the longer shaft? the A/T or the manual?
Once I get the 518 out I can measure the length difference between it and the NV 3500.
NV3500 has the longer shaft by 7 inches because the NV3500 it self is shorter by 7 inches therefore if your doing a 4x4 you front shaft will also need to be 7 inches longer

Don, you type too much. I got bored on page 1. So if this is a repeat, excuse me.

Look at the other truck you want first, see if its 5spd. If not, I'd skip the 5spd altogether and stick the 5.2 in your current truck. Swapping to a 5spd makes no sense to me if you just rebuilt your trans. The hydraulic trans in these gen2s are better than the newer bs. I have a buddy with a 92 auto V6, his uncle has a 93 v8. According to window stickers, the 5.2 gets 4mpg more than the 3.9.

If your sons friends dad still has the entire truck, it would make things easier. But I couldn't justify swapping trans myself. If you need a ecm I have a mopar performance unit I might come off of.

I got everything I need but the pedals; the truck the rollover motor and trans came from, went to the scrapyard last fall; I'd like to also find me a stick steering column but not a "have to";
I want the extra space of a club cab, and I have always preferred a stick to an auto, just more fun to drive.
I am basically building the truck that I almost ordered off a dealer lot back when these trucks were still new. only MUCH cheaper than 5+ years of payments, lol.

My other Dakota, yes; I did just redo the tranny on; about 7 months and 12K miles ago; I have been driving the daylights out of it since.
originally I wanted to swap the V8/5 spd into my 94, but I went shopping on CL for a CC Dakota, specifically to use this powertrain in, instead. My 94 runs fine as is, so i am gonna keep it that way.

The PO of my 93 CC said the motor trans and steering column were toast. but the body is nice. that was a major concern that I had in looking around. Perfect swap candidate. the engine in the CC proved to not be "shot" as PO said; but the tranny definitely is... but I have other plans for that tranny once I rebuild it;

well; trans died on me again on the 94; i am again unemployed (graduate from local college tomorrow w/ associate's in Ag business) I had a 12 wk work experience "internship" and they are "slow" so cant keep me on; found that out only yesterday.... gee thanks; then I get there today for my last day and the tranny makes a weird noise once and gone; fine the rest of way; but I get there and fiind reverse slipping badly;
tonite coming home I got a helluva shudder like something bound up momentarily then no OD again....
so that truck goes to the bottom of the priority list, I have a few side jobs to do to get some money coming in; then I assemble the 93 CC with its "new" 5 speed and all, then transfer the plates over and then finally (probably be a month or so) the trans will come apart in the 94 again; guess I will be driving the Wrangler for a while.....
