I bought some 2" lift coils for the front of my 2wd truck to level it out.. now my question is.. what do i need to disconnect before the coil will come out? do i need to disconnect the lower control arm so it will drop down and then the coil will just come out?

We just undid the upper ball joints and sway bars. The sway bar links will snap I promise you. So buy them ahead of time they are like $23 you will also need cotter pins. Rest the spindle on something so it doesnt sag and hit the ground and break the steering stabalizer. But I would recommend gettin a coil compressor for the coils because they can pop out at you. and it makes life alot easier putting the longer coils in.

yeah im gettin a coil compressor.. and im not plannin on havin these for a while.. i just want them to hold me over till i get my 3/2.. im so sick of my assend bein way higher then my front.. plus my old coils are pretty rusty.. so just the upper ball joints and sway bars? i figured u had to undo the bottoms and lower them slowly untill the coil pops out.. but im not complainin that sounds alot easier haha

Pull the brake caliper off and hang it up out of the way so there isn't much chance of the brake hose getting damaged, take the shock out, take the sway bar link out (agreed its probably gonna break), disconnect the outer tie rod from the knuckle by taking the nut off and smacking the knuckle where the tie rod goes into it with a hammer, the shock created by the hammer will cause the tapered tie rod stud to loosen so you can pull it out, then loosen the upper ball joint nut but don't take it completely off, smack the knuckle there to do the same thing to the ball joint taper (you will know when it's loose as the spring pressure will force it apart), place a floor jack under the lower control arm and jack it up till there is no pressure on the upper ball joint nut anymore, take the nut completely off and lower the jack SLOWLY untill the spring will come out, read this backwards for installation procedure lol. A coil spring compressor will make it easier, but isn't a neccessity.

They both do it harder/more/$ labor. Simply disconnect the sway bar link from the bar (I never broke one.) Dissconnect spindle from lower ball joint. Slip the coil out and reverse the order. You don't need a coil compressor for this, there is plenty of room and not dangerous. I have done it many times. One thing you will need is some sort of ball joint puller. I had to make my own, the hammer/fork type is garbage.

It is easier to simply pull the tie rod and brake caliper off the knuckle and let gravity and the weight of the knuckle help push the LCA down once the spring tension is off then it is to take the lower ball joint nut off and try to get the knuckle still attached to the UCA out of the way far enough to work comfortably. No need for any type of ball joint puller, all you need is a hammer to get either of the ball joints or tie rods loose. I help out with a circle track car we have the front springs out of that two or three times between races from April to September, my way is easier/faster in spite of having to take 2 more bolts and 1 more nut off been there tried that lol.
