Will do, it'll be next week at the earliest, I'm out on the USS Kearsarge at the moment.
Ugh carriers.. Been there, done that. No thanks! 45days off the coast of Burma and no action.

Was that done with spray cans or a roller? From what I've seen, people are getting much better results with the roller than most spray can jobs. Plus it's cheaper. I don't think you could paint an entire vehicle with spray cans for under $50. The enamel paint is $8/qt and I haven't even used half of a quart for three coats.

It's not so bad when you're out here as a civilian and it's only for a week or two at a time. Altho, I've done full deployments as enlisted and as a civilian. Still better than sitting in a cubicle all day long, imo. :D

cost me atleast 100$ and looks like shit, if i used a buffer with some rubbing compound would it make it shine more?
Some wetsanding and buffing definitely couldn't hurt. Wetsand it with 1000, then 1500, then 2000 and then hit it with some rubbing compound.

Or you could pick up a couple of quarts of the enamel paint and roll it :eek:nethumb:

lolll im done painting this fuckin thing.. i sanded my arm off, sanded, primed,sanded,1 coat, sanded, 2 coats, sanded.. sucked haha and it didnt even come out that good:rant: ima try to wetsand, but that isnt going to mess up the clear coat?

I'd imagine you can mess up the clearcoat with wetsanding if you're not careful. This paintjob is the first time I've ever done wetsanding, so it's a learning experience for me.

maaco is the worst, I think that they use the paint we used in grade 1, I had something painted by them once, I was better off letting a blind man do it

I have never heard anything good about maaco. One of my buddies had his '55 Chevy truck painted by them. It looked good at first then like a week later we noticed a bunch of people wrote their names in the paint with the clear coat, could only see it at a perfect angle out in the sun.

Why would you spray it satin black if you wanted it to shine? Shouldn't you have used gloss black then? Satin is essentially a semi flat black...

I just finished reading all 4 pages.

first,If you thin it enough to self level.Wont it sag on the sides of the truck.

second,Automotive paint has a hardening agent to make it more chip and scratch resistant.

third,If your goint to go through the trouble of removing the bumpers.Finish the job and remove the mirrors door window rubber and the door handles.Less taping and less chances of bleeding better looking job.

STAY AWAY FROM MACCO.Ive seen some of there jobs. The worst I saw was,It looked like they used 80 grit paper to scuff the car. Then a shitty tape job.It was a red to grey color change. You could see all the scratches fro the sand paper. Then they didnt do the jams.Open the door and you saw the old red paint. One word TACKY.

just my 2 c

hey guys not tryin to be an ass but spend money and Macco painters can do some good shit. But when you pay $300 for a paint job $100 for paint, $50 for materials, that leaves $150 per job for prep guy, painter and manager plus the bills at the end of the month.. just sayin..

depends on what type of clear you used, i believe if its water bourne you have to wait a rediculous amount of time before wet sanding, but if its just regular clear it'll be fine.
just don't burn through!
i wetsanded and polished an ENTIRE 98 mustang candy apple red, really nice car......the whole time in the back of my head was "don't fuck up, don't fuck up" lol
you'll be fine

i used all rustoleum paint, satin black, and krylon clearcoat, well.. i scrubbed the truck down the other day idk if its just something on the paint, but the paint looks like i scrubbed it off and the primer is peakin through.. which i dont understand cuz i used 2+ cans on each panel
