I've always liked the Edelbrock SDTs in 304 stainless. We have run them on everything from my old low 11 second 95 Firebird to similar F bodies that ran high 8s...Very good flow, only 3 5/8" thick in its 3" version, and not too loud at all, until you get on the throttle and even then its not very loud. Wish I had a sound clip to post, but always used to get compliments on the sound of my Firebird.

...and having said that, they seem to have discontinued it in stainless. Its available in the Ti-tech coating, which is supposed to be very good. And 2 1/2 and 3" versions seem to be very hard to come by. What I could find was around $90/each. Sucks because I was going to get one for my 2001 R/T...

Here's a link to what I could find..

If that is the same Ti-tech coating that the Y-pipe is coated with in their ceramic coated header package...it is worthless.

I have no direct experience with the coating, but I've seen it last well on the mufflers. Its a shame they seemed to have discontinued the stainless version. When I was heavy into racing we dyno tested a bunch of "quiet" mufflers back to back on my true dual system on my Firebird...The best hp and tq across the board was the Edelbrock SDT and the Hooker Aerochamber. I went with the Edelbrock because of the stainless and having the thinnest case of any of the mufflers. Running 3" true duals on a 95 Firebird requires thin mufflers to help with ground clearance. I was shocked that the Edelbrocks were as good as they were. My experience with their stuff in the GM world, other than their intakes and the SDT muffler, has been less than favorable.

I'm gonna try the Edelbrock SDT on the R/T and report back...
