Well it had been a couple weeks since i washed my truck last so i decided to give her a bath and a good buff and wax. well while i was drying off the bed i found that the driver's bed side just above the plastic wheel well trim was bubbling up, so i reach up underneath to find nothing but rot!!! what the hell. the whole truck is 99% spotless and now this crap. so i wonder if it would be better to replace the bedside, bed or just try to cut out the rot and replace metal. its mostly under the side trim but still is no fun.

Your on the down hill slid now. That's how mine started and the bed has a good amount of rot and I've got to replace the front body mounts on both side as well as the inner cab corners and both rockers. Go over that truck with a fine tooth come and check for more cause you will find it. Mine was very deceiving. It wasn't till I really looked that I saw how bad it was.

yes behind the fender flare, just starting to peak its ugly head up about a 1/4" above the flare. if i feel up behind the flare it is basically gone, and i can stick my hand through it. no pics yet but ill try to get some. I hate rust so bad it literally disgusts me to have to drive it like this. I might be a little OCD LOL

It's shit but it happens. Only thing you can do is pop off the flare, cut off the affected area and weld in a new piece. Body shops would be able to order them, can't remember the place I got mine for the chev years ago.

Might as well pop off all the flares and check the damage before you go any further. Our trucks are notorious for the front clips rusting out.
