Long story and lots of bad decisions from my part but I quit a previous job because I was making 3 dollars less per hour when I switched positions. I decided to quit to focus on Nursing school. Well I had a job as a student Nurse for 3 months before I didn't get the required test grade in a Nursing class and the school I go to says if you fail a class in Nursing you are out of the program. Well my job as a student nurse was based upon the fact that I was enrolled in an accredited nursing program so I had to let them no I was no longer enrolled so I lost that job. I have applied to 6 jobs, one at Toyota that I was hoping I would get. I still haven't heard anything and it's been 3 weeks now. The worst part is I have a Bachelor of Science in Health Administration but I cannot find a job using my degree that doesn't require at least 2-5 years experience. Things just suck at the moment.

That sucks sorry to hear dude...the economy sucks balls right now and im kinda in thew same position ( no job ) so im moving to texas for a job...hope all works out for u...and for experience couldnt u use ur college time and all??? does that count??? if u talk to some people they will be a little less harsh due to u just getting out of college or what not...cause everyone needs a start to get said experience...once again best of luck to u...hope everything turns around for u

that sucks, out here in Iowa, We need hospital workers. I work in the hospital stocking things and down in the lab. Working two jobs. Out here we have many positions available because we have so many hospitals and medical care places. People with degrees will for sure get hired out here. Im currently working on my Bachelors of Health Science and cant wait to get the huge pay raise once i have a degree

That's the degree I have but it is impossible to find a job for my degree that doesn't require so much experience and then there aren't any entry-level jobs around here. I am trying to find a secretarial job at the moment to get some experience but the pay is crap.

Sucks man. I'm actually considering going for my master's in healthcare admin.

well that blows.. i have a BA in communicaitons.. guess what i do.. im a glorified delivery driver...

i could be like most and blame the econom but imma blame that im not meeting the right people!

good luck in ur job search and dont get discouraged you, me, we, everyone who spent $40,000+ on our fancy degrees will reap the benefits eventually!! (as my brother who is in a trade is earning as we speak with no school debt picks up my degree and says.. sure dosent feel like 40 grand.. asshole :jester:)

You willing to relocate?

That's the way it goes. Most career oriented jobs want education and experience. Getting in the door is the hardest step without experience.

i want to be a dentist but i know that i screwed around too much in high school so i at least want to be able to write down that i have hospital experience, i might not be that important but at least they pay for my college and my pay is good. $14.86 an hour, to me that is amazing and i am considering that Iowa has one of the lowest standards of living but has the best state supported public school systems.

Sorry to hear that dude, my wife is a nurse, she works hard but makes good money. Although it's a tough job sometimes, she get's job satisfaction from knowing that she's helping people. Can you re-apply for nursing training?
I can apply to nursing school at another school, just not the one I was attending. But now that I'm out of school, 40k in student loans, I really just want to try and find a job with the degree I have. I'm going to apply for grad school, but I need a job to help pay some bills for now. I'll find a job soon enough, just sucks not having the experience that employers want.

No, that's the hard part. I'm sure I COULD find a job, but I want one where I live. I'm not the kind of person who can just pick up and move.

There is a Cummins place nearby but I'm not sure what kind of place it is. I just know every time I go up to my dads house I pass it. I've honestly thought about going back to school for automotive technologies because I know a couple guys that run shops around here and they are hiring at a pretty good salary.

Okay I lied. I got an e-mail from a recruiter for a company that found my resume on Monster and I have actually heard of them and they are in Wisconsin so I sent my resume into their HR. I actually hope I get a job with them because they make the computer software for healthcare companies that nurses use to chart health records. They are the largest that I know of so it could turn out to be a really good opportunity for me.

Atta boy. Get out there and get some experience, then in a couple of years you can go where you want.

I have a different take; please don't take this as a thread jack; I landed on Disability at 40, am now 43, and healed as good as it will get and have been trying to find a job for 1-1/2 years; was ASE Master at one time, let them fizzle away when I went to Industrial Maintenance in a steel mill; got hurt at home, lost my job due to FMLA, am back in school for Ag Business, and since I didn't come from an Ag background as a kid, I can't even get a summer job under a school based internship...... "not enough experience"..... how can I get it? the days of giving someone a chance went away in the early 80s when I was in jr high......
