i decided to start this thread to see your street or track records
-5.9 durango vs ford raptor- neck n neck till 3rd gear then i pulled away
-5.9 durango vs 99-04 mustang- tang started to pull away till i hit 3rd then i stayed a car length behind him till we hit the speed limit, lucus won that day
-5.9 durango vs 04-08 maxima turbo- me and my friend in the maxima started up a steep hill from a dead stop and i pulled 2-3 car lengths ahead but when we got to the turn he passed me. the road was about 1/16 to 1/8mile long.
-5.9 durango vs 04-08 maxima turbo- this time we were on a dirt road and i put it in 4 wheel drive full time and we lined up, he counted down and hammered it, i had had an unfair advantage and easly out ran him,
im currently saving to bore and stroke the 360 magnum to a 408 hemi stroker
Yea, I sure would like to see the details of how you are going to turn a 360 into a 408 stroker hemi? I know there used to be a company that made hemi heads for the small block , but I don't think it ever took off with the mopar crowd, me being real old school mopar crowd: And oh yea our outlaw car runs low 4's in the 1/8 and high sixes in the 1/4 and we do it with a 198 slant six. (only shittin' ya about the slant six, it's really a 225, no, still shittin' ya.)
I don't race my R/T on the street, that's kind fuckin' retarded, you may fuck up and hurt some innocent people. Racin' is for the track.

no, its a 5.9 mag and he said he might be able to find or make some hemi heads, but if not its either gonna be r/t or magnum heads, but im gunning for hemi
There is a company that used to make hemi heads for the small block, saw it in one of my mopar magazines years ago...Don't know if they still do it..But like I figured back then..Why? You can make just as much or more horsepower with a set of ported rhs heads or a ported set of R/T heads if you can find them..Man you are trying to blow smoke up the asses of people on here that know way more about racing and making horsepower than you will probably ever know. That rango you have is not that fast, even with tons of mods. I have a 65 Valiant out in the barn with a 225 in it that will suck all four doors off it. And that is the slowest vehicle I have. Oh, yea, I don't know any one short of some highly skilled machinists with some serious CNC machine equipment that could even attempt to "make" a pair of hemi heads. Do you know how much money you would have to spend for this to even think about it maybe happening? Man, what the hell are you smokin'. I want some of it.

"Z code", you guys are so cool with your lingo. What does that mean?

It's the Z in the vin to represent the R/T package. Pay attention over on the site Chad. And dammit get an R/T or at least a 318.
Lol, wrong. It means it came from the factory with a 5.9. Not only r/ts Sherlock.

Chad, you are correct....My bad. I had R/T on my brain...Since I have a 98 R/T I should have remembered that. Z does stand for the 360 Motor. But in the dakota the R/T is the only model that came with the 360. You still need to get a v/8. Nice little v/6 though:clap2:

Thanks, but you're still wrong, the qc dakotas had a 5.9 option.

They may have, but I never saw one...I'm not specifically into trucks..I don't follow the numbers on them..I bought my R/T in 98 new because it is a dodge and it's a damn nice looking truck. I have a dodge dually that pulls our race car and hauls the shit every now and then, I also have a hemified ram, and a 1989 Ramcharger that has been the best truck I ever bought (new) with 325,000 miles on it and never one bit of trouble out of it. And I couldn't tell you shit about them 'cause they are trucks..I am more into the old school cars. I don't care about numbers...they are meaningless to me unless they are the 1/8 or 1/4 mile numbers.

and im tryin to learn, thats one of the reasons im on here, as for the hemi heads im waiting on the guy to tell if he has any that would fit or IF HE COULD MAKE ANY, if not, im gonna get ported r/t heads. as for the races, im just saying results, im not boasting how fast my rango is, there are meny cars that can smoke me and i know that, like i said im only saying the results, the maxima had me beat on the flat, but up hill i had him and on clay road was a duh, the tang was a race to see who could get to 45mph first. the 6.9 raptor i agree would rape me, but im pretty shour it was about the same, as for borninamopar, quit being such a cocky fool and observe all the details and ask for the ones that are missing, as for the details the 360 will be bored .30 over and i beleave a 4in crank throw, as for the heads i want the hemi, if not possible im goin either with ported magnum or rt heads, depending on the power band and character of the band, im looking for a good long band through the low-highmid rpm range, if i could get nonbias information on this would be greatly apreciated

I shouldn't ask for the details that are missing...And if you want to know how to make that station wagon fast...Just ask us: Don't tell us...And I'm cocky 'cause I can be...I've been around the mopar world a long long long time...If you want to be fast, just ask us...We'll tell you how to do it. And seriously, I have a Valiant with a /6 in it that will suck all 4 doors off that Rango. And it is the slowest vehicle I own.

i'd believe "borninamopar" when he's talking about that straight six,,,,i've seen a coupla straight six cheby deuces that can make some serious hp with their motors,,all it takes is a little motor work and knowledge,,

I really think that some people on this forum have a very inflated view of how fast their heavy ass SUV is. I also think that most of these "races" posted in this thread and others are nothing but BS.
X10, most of the cars these guys are listing off have around the same power yet have a 1500lb weight advantage :jester: Stock R/T Durangos are like what, mid-high 16 in the 1/4? Blistering fast :jester:

A STOCK 05-08 Maxima has 15hp on a R/T and weighs in at 3400lbs, over 1000lbs less than the Durango does. Please tell me how a turbo'd Maxima wasn't puting bus lengths on you? :funny:

it's going to be interesting watching you bore a magnum block for a hemi swap
very interested, if you can pull it off i would like to know!

lol your going to put your piston in the water jacket? .30 seems like you got something to prove making a 360 into a 460 lol think you might mean .030

and just stick with eddies. unless you have friends in the business interested in making new shit for our engines, or wads of cash, stick to what's been done and proven good.

im not telling yall how to make the rango fast, im just saying what i have planed for it, i never said my durango was fast and u can look back and see i never said my rango was fast, just the results of my races. im tired of this pointless argument that had no foundation to start with. as for the 408, yes i ment .030 and sorry thats my fault. i should have realized i got mixed up when he said 465.as for the hemi heads he hasnt contacted me so im probly goin with ported rt heads or ported magnum heads
