Was looking for an avenger, eclipse, 3000 gt or a 5.2 5 speed or RT dakota...

And with my price range around $1000-$2000
I called a few guys couldnt find anything I really liked for the price...

Well.... I found a 99 1.8 5 speed eclipse, needs a clutch pretty bad... But it get the job done..

Just before anyone says anything about it not being american.... It is Chrysler 420A engine...

Yea,,, Non turbo... I just needed to get outta the terdcel. And for $800... Some D.A.s around here asking $1800-$2100 for non turbo with blown motors... :jester:

I know right! as soon as I got to the guys house, I asked if he had the stock tails and mirrors! Just glad he did... I will post some pix tomorrow, of the stock mirrors and taillights on... Didnt have anytime today... Its at my cuz apartment right now, not even home yet!

The mirrors are fine, but those tails are awful. lol

Built in Bloomington, Illinois....!!

So was my 96' Avenger ES, 2.0 5-speed. You will have fun with it and the gas milage will be great. Watch the curbs, I got tired of busting up the bottom front of mine. Now I have a truck with shitty MPG and never scrape curbs. :woot:

Yea gotta get the clutch fixed first(its GONE!) and as you can see the last owner couldnt drive it to good, the side pictured is the good side... the center is cracked and the pass side is cracked all the way up it...

good buy...but u planning on turboing it or anything??? and one more thing
Yea, she will get turboed after I get outta college and get a full time job lol.

You can build a pretty fast car out of those lil eclipse's they can be pretty impressive deffinitely a good buy though!

make sure the guy that changes the clutch...

knows what he is doing. Sounds funny but if you surface grind the flywheel (instead of replacing it) it has to have a bevel to it. Check first as I may be thinking of another car. It isn't unusual to surface or change a flywheel when needed. Check pricing and talk to the mechanic unless you plan to do it yourself. It is FWD so the entire engine/trans assembly will be dropped to change it.

You don't have to drop the engine, just crossmember and f/r motor mounts, axles etc. same amount of work I guess but if doing it yourself you wont have to mess with as much wiring.

fwiw i'd have kept the turdcel and saved money awhile...:funny: turboing is gonna be hard/expensive, 100% aftermarket.

Eh, I am just replacing the flywheel while i am in there... I do plan to do it my self, and as already said the engine doesnt have to come out, just the axles and tranny...
