So, I was out on the bike in my avatar and as I was coming through my neighborhood on my way home realized I had yet to pull a wheelie today, so I took a good look around (looking for pedestrians/oncoming traffic/Cops) and when I sensed the coast was clear pull a nice clean wheelie from around 4k rpm in first and ran it to around 10k rpm where the power falls off. Problem is at around 7500 rpm lights and sirens started up behind me.:censored: I looked back in time to see a local whip around my buddy and show up on my bumper, I pulled in the first parking lot I saw and quickly took off my helmet and jacket. as the cop gets out of the cruiser he says, "How we doing today?" to which I respond, "Well I'm having some problems making poor decisions, but other than that its a pretty good day." Now that he has covered the distance between us he chuckles and says, "Yeah, well, at this time I placing you under arrest for reckless driving. You have the right to remain silent...." :sorry: After putting me in the cruiser and looking up my clean driving record I talk him to down Negligent instead of reckless because there wasnt anyone close enough for me to hit/harm. I'm really not too mad about the ticket, I deserved it and I know better, but shelling out $550 bucks hurts. The part that really sucks is I drive for a living, and because Negligent is such a serious offense in Washington if I get another moving violation in the next 362 days I lose my job. Owning a motorcycle and riding the way I do means there is a serious chance I will lose my job.

If you came here looking for sympathy it's in the dictionary between shit and syphilis.

i've been there. only ticket i ever got. leaving work, my friend thought he was cool so he chirped the tires in his pontiac sunfire (LOL) i rolled up next to him and just did a good 30-45 second brake job starring him in the eye. when i let off and looked there was a cop in the middle of the intersection, stopped, doing the same to me.
"well, that was a bad idea"

Your a squid. You did the stupid move and you drive for a living. I don't see why your complaining at all? You made the decisions, now suffer the consequences. You know it's illegal and you still do it. Do it off road in a controlled enviroment, not in public period. You give all us bikers a bad image.

I got another dumb ass moment 102mph in a 45 few months ago. Gonna cost me about 725 including lawyer, court cost,8hr driving class. One reason why i sold my Z28 and got a durango. We all make mistakes an gotta learn from them.

Coming from a bike wrench... That's what parking lots/private roads are for.
How about you ride your bike fairly responsibly or get rid of it if you don't have the self control to do that?

Yeah, I wasn't complaining or looking for sympathy, but I did like your joke about it being between shit and syphillis, that was pretty good.

Rebel, I'm sorry my wheelie makes you look bad I think thats a ridiculous statement by the way, because I don't complain about how the straight pipes on your V-twin wake me up in the morning or make people think we're all the same. (Not trying to stir up drama there, just a wild guess)

I do agree that what I did wasn't exactly the smartest thing I could have done, and I do typically reserve these antics for parking lots and the track. I forget who said it, but I was just trying to share my 'dumbass' moment.

so i just have to ask...you ride a TL1000R? the photo is a lil hard to be sure but going by your description of the powerband im thinking it is...

i hear on this one, i like to play on my bikes too. it sucks that you got busted but as you obviously know your gonna pay to play eventually. if i got caught doing something stupid i would always fess up and take my lumps. from the sounds of it i dont think your in squid territory just yet. squids are the dumb-asses pulling this shit in crowded traffic/areas hoping for as many spectators as possible.

i live in a real small town so even if i went to one of the few abandoned parking lots in my area the cops would never leave us alone. and dont get me started on harley riders...they get away with shit everyday that i could never hope to on my "crotch rocket". obnoxious loud pipes, light to light races, lots of irrationally cut black leather and ridiculous skull cap helmets. grown men too scared to blaze their own trail. humping the dying image of the quintessential "bad ass" thinking they are oh so cool.

i guess dont get me wrong i have a lot of friends who ride hogs but they are the guys who are there to actually ride and connect with their bikes. enjoying the peace and freedom riding can provide....end rant lol.

Actually its a CBR929RR, you were close, the powerband is funny due to the 52 tooth sprocket I have on it. I can pick up from 2500 rpm and then it drops off a little early cuz its old (45k) and its got my fatass on it. Yeah, I dont think I'm a squid either, I learned on my first bike showing off ends in pain. I just love the thrill of a decent wheelie.

As far as manning up and taking the rap for my actions, yeah, I'm doing that too. I didnt argue with the cop like a punk, just said I didnt think I deserved reckless because I only presented harm to myself. He agreed and we settled on negligent.

i don't think he is complaining .. i think he was just sharing his "im a dumb ass moment"
That's the impression I got too. I still remember my big dumb ass moment. I was having a generally pissy day and after work I found I had locked myself out of my truck. A cop came and unlocked me, and then I just wanted to get home and a box of Fruity Pebbles. I had no patience for ANYONE. I stopped off and got my cereal, and was driving somewhat fast on a back road when I saw a car preparing to turn onto the road. I sped up to make sure they'd wait for me to pass before making their turn and it turned out he was a cop. He gave me a ticket but made it clear I was exceeding the speed limit to such a degree I could lose my license. I think it was 72mph on a 2-lane 45mph road. I was so embarrassed and ashamed by what I did. I don't think I've ever done anything that aggressive on the highway since then (summer of 2000). It still pops up in my head as a reminder against being a dumbass on the road.

Not going to fight, but you are a squid! Since it is coming up here very soon, anyone going to daytona? I'm rolling there.

Don't worry about it... He makes all of us R/T guys look bad with his lifted R/T...

But honestly if you know you can't control yourself enough, maybe you'd better sell that bike instead of losing your job. just my .02.

929 thats a good solid bike for stunting :mullet: i had myself a TL done up to the nuts....remapped, full system, +5 on rear, kevlar clutch w/ high pressure springs, nitrous, custom intake, custom high capacity PCV system with oil/air separator....im sure you get the picture. about the only thing i didn't have was a big bore and cams. blew it up on the way to work on a lonely canyon road doing 150+ on a straight section. went lean on the top end at close to 9500 RPM and blew out both head gaskets. (TLs are a ducati v-twin derived engine design) it was all street fightered out with no body panels, the wind blast was insane lol.

also had a cbr600f4 dedicated stunter...but as stated before i ended up realizing i could not trust myself with a street bike so i got into the dirtbike game and couldn't be happier. you might want to look at that as a option. i swear it took my riding skill to a whole different level as well. got two dirtbikes now and lovin life. sure you cant hit those crazy straight away speeds but then again you cant "air out" a street bike like you can a dirt bike...trust me i tried with my cbr :funny:

Says a man that probably never riden a bike in his life!

Rebel made a valid statement. Doing wheelies through a neighborhood could kill somebody. He wasn't trying to argue but people continued for no reason.

i can understand that wheelies and neighborhoods dont mix but can you honesty take that stand and then with all those mods on your truck tell me you have NEVER ONCE opened up your truck anywhere but the track? by no means am i trying to pick a fight but there is no way any one person is perfect and i dont know about you guys but i refuse to live in a bubble...

edit: i just feel the comment rebel13 made was uncalled for. we have all been there at one time or other.
