I have been contemplating doing that...i found the stroker kit at Hughes, don't know if this one is good or not. And in fact I don't know what all needs to be done besides that...i.e. what type of heads, intake, etc...so not sure if I want to tackle the project or not. So if you have any insight, I will totally be listening!!!

yeah i've been on the phone with hughes quite a bit lately. im doing their 390 kit but stepping up to a h-beam rod and forged crank. any magnum head oem or aftermarket can be used but you would obviously want somthing that can feed the bottom end. I will be running the F.A.S.T. setup with about 15psi. hopefully all turns out well.

how much hp are you looking for? a good set of I-beams and a cast crank can give you a lighter bottom-end that would spin easier and give a few more hp.

550whp. not trying to go over 6000rpm. im going with the h-beams and a forged crank counter balanced and knife edged. rotating assembly weight is going to be the least of my worries as rod ratio is not bad and piston speed isnt extreme.

yeah, I wouldn't do I-beams on that much hp though, that's even starting to push it on an N/A build unless you really have a good set of rods but that $$$. but that's still in the realm of the cast crank. what I mean but spin eaiser is that to you'll be able to get from idle to redline much quicker than with a heavier setup and you'll sap less hp to do it as well. cast cranks are rated for 700 hp and 550whp through an automatic is about 680hp at the flexplate less if it's a manual. also, I don't know of anyone, or even of a story of someone who has broken a cast crank, they're pretty underrated and casting tech is alot better nowadays as well. realistically you're not going to make 550whp just daily driving it since you won't be up that high in the RPMs, only when you go racing or pass someone on the highway is when you would generate such hp. you can machine a case crank just like a forged one. just something to think about to save a few bucks.

a good place to ask about 390 strokers would be Moparts.com there are plenty of guys that have done it there. 390s aren't exactly common in the fuel injected magnum truck world lol.

yeah, they arent common at all. thats why im doing this instead of a 408. twin T3/T04E flanged 60mm's with .86 A/R are gonna sound great at 6000 rpm's with dumped pipes straight out the fender. (no this will not be a daily driver)
