is it usually more expensive or involved to paint fiberglass as opposed to metal? i have a chance to pick up a fiberglass cowl induction hood used, just needs to be color matched to my truck, for under $200. if i can get it shot for $150 it would be worth it. but if its gonna cost me $400 because its fiberglass, im not gonna bother.

If it's already painted and only needs to be the right color for your truck there should be no difference in price. The problem with fiberglass is in the bodywork. As long as there are no stress cracks to fix or anything like that it should be cake. And 150 should be doable as long as you don't mind the slight difference that will come from not color-blending the fenders and grille with it.

*Of course this is only my opinion, I do paint and body for a living but your painter of choice could disagree.*

thanks for the input. i dont care if its a shade off. my truck has over 100k on it and its far from perfect. i just figured if i could get it cheap enough, it would be a cool project to fab up a cowl induction system to seal an air cleaner to the hood and use the hood the way it was meant to be. the guy said he had it painted but he did it himself and didnt like how it turned out. now he sold the truck and has the hood layin around.
