Here's the deal - Whenever the truck is cooled off, it starts hard - like it's not getting fuel. I whirl it over for 5 -10 seconds before it will start. After it is warmed up, it starts fine. I was told it could be a check valve? I know there is a rubber hose on the top end of the engine (a vaccum hose?) that blew off making a hissing noise. the other end connects down almost underneath the battery on a T type connector. I believe the hose is 1/4" in diameter (inside) and about 15" long. I put a another hose on but i had a really hard time getting it over the fittings - maybe it's leaking air? Any advice would be appreciated. Maybe I will get pics.

UUHHMMM...yes without fuel it will start hard. By cycling the key like I explained it will run the fuel pump so fuel will get back up to the engine before you actually try to start it. If you listen carefully by the fuel tank area when you turn the key to the on position you should hear the fuel pump run for 2 seconds.

OK, So I did cycle the key and it started better. The fuel pump was replaced not to long before I bought it so it's only a couple of months old. The fuel pump is engaging when you first turn the key ahead. I checked that last night.
As for the vaccum hose, I think it may need to be 5/16 in diameter, is this something i can get in a length or should I get a OEM? I dont really know what to ask for as I dont know the exact name for the hose... Dumb, yes I know...
