Ok, I have a 99 Rango, with a 5.9, and have been fighting this shitty idle for a month and a half. It started July 3rd, drove to Stevenville, Tx and when we got there the Rango started idling real bad. Not all the time, but once the engine got warm. I figured no big deal, I'll change o2's and that's that. I put 2 need sensors in to no avail, runs absolutely fine through the rest of the rpm range, but at idle it falls to about 450-500. When i got home the next day, i started reading though every thread on idle I could find, and have tried just about everything, I've replaced the IAC, the TPS, the MAP, the o2's twice, I've even changed the tb itself. In the interest of being thorough, I also changed the fuel rails and the injectors. So last thing i could think of, this morning I went and had a new catalytic converter put on, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-59956/

However, its still idling like shit. If anyone has any suggestions, or questions, I'm all ears. Just kinda at my whits end.

did you try a tune up by any chance instead of throwing expensive parts at it?

the wires and cap/rotor are less than a year old, taylor 8.2, and summit cap/ rotor with brass contacts

also, the plugs where less than a year old as well, but they where e3's, and i switched to ngk's just to rule it out

Have you noticed an increase in oil consumption? You may have a blown belly pan gasket that's giving you a vac leak. Open up the TB blades and look inside the intake for excessive oil.

Also check all the vac lines including the rubber elbow on the MAP sensor.

checked the plenum when i had the tb off, little bit of oil, but nothing drastic, no oil consumption, and i have checked all the vac lines, some are hard, but no cracks or leaks as of yet

Definitly take a look at the small rubber elbow on that connects the MAP sensor to the TB vac port. If it's bad, LMK and I'll get one in the mail to you on Monday. My treat.

i think its screwed and you should start over, get yourself another dur and i'll take the one you thats giving you all the grief.

atleast think about it...

ill driv it around till it gets warm and starts messing up and try, but it only does it when its warmed up, on a cold start it will idle till warm, then start dropping
