Hey guys, I'm officially a 2002 Dodge Dakota Sport Quad Cab 4.7 Manual V8 owner and am looking for some answers and a new place to call home. I just sold my 2005 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab Short Bed 4.0l V6 6-Speed, needed to downgrade my payment since I just had a son born, so I went from a $23,830 truck to a $6000 one Anyway, I always called TacomaWorld.com my home but now i need a new one.
Doesn't have anything special done to it except for an exhaust tip and new grille.
Bought a Haynes Repair Manual, some "Dodge" Front Floormats and 2 goofy "Ebay Fuel Saver gizmos" from a guy for $20 today.
Here's a couple of pics of my truck, pretty damn stock haha

I might as well post a pic of my old Taco

Onto the questions:

Tires-
I don't have a lift, but it might be leveled (block under the rear leaf springs) currently running 265/70R16 tires (31x10.43x16) Any idea what the largest tire i can run without rubbing would be? 32s even possible?

RPMs-
My gauges don't seem to have a redline, my tacoma was about 5500, are 5000rpm shifts safe for the 4.7 V8?

Fogs anytime-
I modded my Tacoma to enable my fogs with my high beams, is this possible in the Dakota?

12v DC Recep/outlet constant hot- ("always on", not "Ignition-on")
Is there a way to make the DC outlet in the cab ALWAYS ON as to enable charging cell phones etc while not driving/no key in ignition?

Key Fob- It came with a key fob but it doesn't work, it either needs programmed or has incorrect batteries. anyone know what type of batteries the FOB takes? Maybe I just need to try new bats...

Poor sounding system- I have the Infinity sound system for sure, but it sounds awful... i have the tweeters and also checked to verify the amp was under the passenger kicker panel, sure was. Just doesn't sound amazing, but then again thats with the Radio, haven't tried CD... Probably at least time to upgrade the 8 year old speakers. Could the amp be blown but still be working? (allowing sound)

Thats all i can think of for now, sorry its messy hehe
I look forward to talking to you all!

Glad to see you come to the darkside!
love the Toyota...sucks you had to give it up and couldn't just buy the Dak for a second truck.

sorryy I have no answers for your questions...I'm more of a paint guy, enjoy the new truck.

PM Rebel13 about that. He will know for sure.

Yes. http://www.dakota-durango.com/forum/showthread.php?t=54730&highlight=fog+lights

Unsure you maybe able to wire it with the Cig-lighter and see if that works.

Unsure but maybe the parts store will carry some.

You may just need to replace the factory amp.
Sorry I am not much help.

This is just the info I put on your newbie introduction page...

For leveling do not put blocks in the rear. If you put blocks in the rear, it'll raise the rear, then you'll be even more unlevel. If you want to level out, crank your torsion bars. I also am running on 265/70R16. I believe we had another newbie come on here and put 265/75R16s on a T-bar cranked dakota.

I doubt your factory amp is blown, even though it is 8 years old. Aftermarket always sounds better than stock hands down. I'll tell you what I have. When I first got the dakota back in 2007 (its a 2001) I blew the front door speakers. So Dad bought me aftermarket 6.5" Infinity Components speakers to replace the front speakers as a B-day present. I dont know what they are but I know they don't make them anymore or at least not my exact kind they have a better version out. Then I blew the rear factory coaxials. So I bought a pair of Kicker SSMB6 6.5" MidBass Drivers. But the stock amp could barely push those so I looked into replacing the factory amp. I like to keep the stock interior look so I needed to find a amp that would fit up in the kickpanel. I found it after long searching, though it is much longer than the stock amp. The amp is a Blaupunkt THA 475 Pnp (720W) 4-channel Amp. After, I had a buddy machine me up some brackets I installed the amp. I still have the factory amp. The Kickers kicked the bucket a week or so later. Went to Polk Coaxial 6.5" speakers, but they are going to get replaced with Alpline Type-Rs.

1. leveling the front will allow the fitment of 32" tires, 33's with triming (nice thread dedicated to show this)
2. on my automatic the truck shifts at 5500 rpm and the rev limiter is a 6000
3. yes there is a thread on here that tells you how to do this
4. im not sure
5. again not sure (never had a problem with mine)
6. the stock speakers suck hands down upgrade immidiatly i have 1" jl tweeters and 6.5" jl's all around sounds really good and clear when tured all the way up

Anyway, I always called TacomaWorld.com my home but now i need a new one.

#1 tacoma world is BOO! TTORA is where it's at:D people acctually wheel their shit hard on TTORA:fawkdance: lol!

as far as suspension stuff goes.. crank the torsion bars; it's free and will fit 32's with no rubbing (265/75/16) you can fit some 33's with minimal trimming too! I have a buddy, corbin, that runs 35's (315/75/16's) on stock 16x8's with a torsion crank and a bit of trimming on his quadcab.. He has the most bad-ass 4x4 IFS quad-cab i've ever seen IMHO
Image

The front diff's like to explode on thease trucks; the axle shafts are pretty strong, but are not made to be a "fuse" for the front drive-line like the Tacoma one's are, the diff will break before the shafts go. Both rear end options that came with our trucks are strong and have many after-market lockers and gears, I would recommend going with 4.56's (lowest you can go) if you get 33's or 35's.

And 4.7's will rev all day long...being SOHC and all... but dont push it; 4.7l's like to hydro-lock, so avoid puddle bashing.

is it only the club cabs that have the extra lighter in the console that is always powered? i have it and i have a lighter plug by my 4 by dial

And throw those Ebay Fuel Saver things away, or use the magnets inside them to hold stuff on the fridge; it's snake oil. "eBay/air-ram power wire's, throttle body spacers, jet performance chips, 02 simulators"
are all snake oil too!

Also.. I will be first to admit that torsion/coil spring Dakota front ends will never preform like a Tacoma's, nor does it have any "bolt ons" that are worthwhile.. but the 4.7L/45rfe combo will diffidently put any Tacoma engine to shame. Good job getting rid of a second gen BTW those things are too large/wide/heavy/expensive to use on any "Arizona" IFS trails, I went/wheeled @ AZROCKS 2010 and the unmodified first gens with e-lockers and sliders walked all over the second gens that were loaded with ARB's gears etc...
som pics:D

The 2nd gen broke it's drivers axleshaft here and became a big trail plug... it took two hrs to fix.. then we found the dealer gave the guy a tundra axleshaft for a spare so it didnt work...not fun LOL
Image

on the way back to camp his truck got flooded in the river..because he was 3wd..horrible day; got him winched out, but the interior was ruined..

$150
16x7 Crager Steel Mags Wheels 5x5.5 lug pattern .(Dodge Ford)
For sale an almost brand new 16x7 5 0n 5.5 lug pattern(only used last winter)set of four black steel 8 hole Crager Mags with 4 Crager chrome center covers along with 20 chrome 2 inch(extra long)lug nuts. These were used on a 2008 Dodge Dakota but will work for Ford as well. They are in almost perfect condition save for being used 4 months. Asking $150.00 or best offer.

No worries, finding rims for our Gen 3's sucks. I'm considering running around with a jack and cordless impact gun and stealing a single rim off random Dakotas and Durangos for snow tires on my R/T cause it's such a pain in the ass to find rims with the right bolt spacing
