Ok...had it to another shop today...re-balanced tires third time. They are eliminated.

Tires...eliminated
Rims...eliminated
CV axles...appear tight, good shape with all boots.
Wheel Bearings tight... Eliminated
U-joints tight...but still could be locking up?
Front drive shaft, boot still on, seem tight..
outer tie rods ....eliminated
inner left tie rod, has slight play. Would not cause this type of vibration we think. That should have been replaced with the new rack that was just recently put on. Thats getting fixed Tuesday.

I do have a powertarin warranty so its going back to where I bought it on Tuesday.

My shop guys are telling me that they think it could be the following.

Drive Shaft out of balance? Lost weight
Transmission Lock up?? Never heard of this before.
Possible u-joints they are tight though but could be locking up...didnt want them to replace because of my warranty. They said they can actually be too tight? never heard of this either?

ok...Tonight driving to work the vibration seems worse, and I heard a loud squeal when i took off from stop sign. What ever it is is starting to fail. I hope it does already.
tread separated tires will balance fine, these are the goodyear HPs correct ?

I don't know if this has been posted but...

U-JOINTS

I had a problem much like this my Dakota would shake from 45-53ish and anything above 80mph, but I also had a squeak at low speeds too.

It turns out it was a bad U-joint, and yes I pulled and shook on my driveshaft quite a bit and still saw no problem until I pulled it out and took a look.

I dont know how it happened but the grease had left one side of the U-joint completely, started to rust inside, and ground the needles into little slivers and dust. Along with that the joint itself was rusted in place.

SO CHECK THEM...

I bought 2 just because I wanted a matching set but they are pretty cheep.

I got duralast gold joints that supposedly never need to be greased because I moved away for college and don't have a shop I can work on my truck in for now. But I would have preferred a greaseable joint so I know it is well lubed...

God I miss home.
