Well one of my calipers seized a little the other day and I got it to release before it caused any damage but for good insurance I think it's a good idea to go ahead and replace the lines and calipers before I toast my fairly new EBC pads and rotors. I was gonna go ahead and order from Rockauto but with the return shipping and with the core charge that is a PITA. So lucky me advanced auto is having a 20% off and free shipping sale for the 4th:woot: and it's gonna end up costing me just about the same:mullet:. Only thing is they only have Cardone brake calipers and I just wanted to check and make sure they were a good set of remanufactured calipers? Also they only have Tru Torque brake hoses??? Never heard of them, lol. Anyone have experience with either of these brands?

Thanks for the insight guys

Matt

Knock on wood, my calipers are still holding up. Haven't used the brake hoses, just went with new stock ones.

Hoses are fine, calipers are known to lock up on these trucks unfortunatly.

Thought he rubber int he hose breaks down and that's what normally clogs up the caliper and seizes the piston? I mean I hat to spend the money because it sucks but I also would hate to ruin my brakes or something else happen because of it. It always seems to be the drivers side caliper that gets everyone to.

My drivers caliper went too. It's not the hoses, shitty design.

It's possible for the brake line. I had one line collapse and kill a caliper and at the same time the other one semi-seized on its own.

However this was not long after I bought the truck so I have no idea how really well maintained the brake system was.

I flush my break system out pretty regularly and have had it since 28,000 so I was kinda pissed/upset when this happened. Just don't want it to happen again. When I flushed the lines I looked at all the fluid and checked it for rubber and didn't see anything, but when the caliper let go the fluid shot out like there was something in there. I guess I'll try to take a good look at the rubber lines when I take off the calipers and go from there.

Well I just ordered the parts from advanced and I'm probably gonna pick them up tomorrow. Got the A-1 Cardone calipers and the brake lines for about $160 out the door with a $40 core charge. So both sides with new hoses for $120 when all said and done. Not bad I guess.

IIRC the Calipers came from Murray's or Advance Auto.

Ended up paying like $40 for the Calipers

Hoses were Rockauto. Got them for under $10 bucks I think because I had a higher code than the normal 5%.

Well wouldn't you know it I was gonna go home tonight from school (across Florida) and then do the brakes tomorrow or some time very soon after. You, know, do them up right. Paint the calipers and what not. Make it nice. But, the damn caliper seized on me again tonight like 30 minutes away from my apartment! I got it to a buddies house near there and I'm gonna have to do it there tomorrow in the morning. This is BS!!!!

Thanks for posting
