I think you might just be in a transiton between mods. Before you get really concerned I would add the headers, Y pipe Some rr's and then flash the pcm. Mabye after that get on a dyno and see what the A.F is @. But I can't stress gears enough.
 
As much as you hate to hear it and i hate to say it. slow is right. you've moved the power band. the m-1 isn't meant for a stock motor. its meant for something with a few more mods. as you do cam, rockers, exhuast, TB, etc. it will show improvement over a stock intake but by itself its not that great of a mod. you lost some bottom end but in the upper rpms its gonna breath more. look at dyno pulls. i make 350 to the wheels at 5300 rpms. i launch at 4500 rpms. so you see low end isn't that important. i never drop below 3000 on the track. gears will help put a lil more umph in the take off. if you are planning on doing a supercharger in a short time then why go with the 2bbl. a 4bbl will respond better with boost. i understand money is tight. belive me we all know, but if you really want to feel the full effects of a mod, you should wait to install it untill you have a few other things to do as well. m-1, cam, rockers, and a TB all at once. you never would have noticed the low end. so just keep building,
 
Greg is right, as a first mod or primary mod, the M1 SUCKS. That is unless you spend all your time cruising at 80+ or never use your OD. Pick the direction you want to go and then slowly accumulate the parts you want. No need to rush the install especially if it won't immediately increase your performance.

please explain to me how i have criticized what you have done in a negative manner.. u wanted suggestions and i gave u them. my first post i recommended gears and roller rockers. that wasent good enough so i then recommended a ton of $hit to u that would of given u all the low end ur heart would desire. short tubes are designed for low end, rv cams are designed for low end, anything bigger then a 50 mm tb will start moving up the rpms, working the stock manifold some will give u better low end. Pulling a map signal from a different spot....how would that ever give you more low end? which ever man have fun. I do think i have a right to talk seeing as i have a V6 that would run circles around ur your R/T with or with out the bottle :biggthump

try searching at Bionicdodge.com or dodgetrucks.org. I doubt he still makes them, but it is worth a try.... or you can buy my 206x and valvetrain components ... would go nice with your manifold ... shameless plug ...
 
I put gears in same time as I did an M1 and 52mm f&b.. I sure as hell did NOT get a feeling of any loss of power down low. But It definatly pulls harder above 3000 which is where I need it more. I also got the b&g flash immediatly after which I beleive helps out a great deal with the M1.

(Just curious SLOW97) what kinds times are you running with the v6?? with or without sprayin?
 
the turtles do still exsist. he makes them from time to time. gonna help a little but again the M-1 by itself is gonna give the excact results you are experienceing
 
Unless you have an egr version of the m1 you need to drill your manifold for the turtle.

Don't forget, turtles come in different sizes and shapes. Hope that doesn't muddy the waters for ya. :jester:

I have a 4bbl. m1 sitting around with a turtle if anyone is interested in either or both. Size (volume) is more important than the shape. Generally they are either cone or pyrimid shape. I could probably make them to any specs you guys want if there is enough interest.

Maybe I'll pull mine out and post a picture.

i have not been to the track (the one time i want i didnt pass tech), but i street race like it is goin out of style. on motor iv beaten many sn95 gt's with exhaust intake (not very impressive) ran a 14.80 cc rt he was about a 1/2 a truck behind me, anything high 14 sec area i can beat. i run dot slicks all the time they are my daily tires. on the bottle i have ran 13.30 lt1's and beaten them, a slew of 13 second turbo hondas, modded 13 second fox bodies, my freinds RC R/T, pph's 1.6s/ 210x/ 52 mm/ rt heads. i crushed the shit out of him. theres many more but tired of thinkin

You want low end??? Put your damn stock manifold back on. Superchargers dont make shit for boost untill 3000 RPM unless you get a Kenne Bell so no help there either..BTW slow97 was giving you advice.
 
Ha i give props to anyone with a 3.9 that can break in to the low 15s, i have one i know how much of a dog they are in stock form, but like everyones said believe what you want, and why the ride bashing? makes me wonder why i even bought a dakota...j\k but for real grow up and take some advice, if you ask for advice dont dog the person out cause he makes you feel like you spent your money wrong, prove them wrong by throwing more money to it and beat the shit out of them... :argue: :lock:

Come on, Greg, on the street I've beaten everything because I have a bad v8. Vipers, Vettes, M class Benz, you name it and I've beat it. They never let me run at the strip because they know I'll beat everyone. It's politics or a conspiracy.
