delete this friggen thread. thanks mods.

So what exactly do you do?

all i basically did was clip any one of the 2 wires on the IAT. (3.7/4.7/5.7 not sure on) doesnt matter which wire. put the resistors inline and reattach them to the wires. thats it. the next cold start u will feel the power. i first tried only a 10k resistor, didnt feel much. 2 10k's equaled to be 19.4k ohms.

what this does it lower the ambient temp and make the pcm think its about 0*. this advances the timing but does NOT richen the mixture. the 02 sensors adjust fuel trim remember!

no, would work on any transmission. this isnt a resistor mod for the transmission.

Fuck....too bad that wouldn't work on a supercharged engine.......gotta retard the timing a bit to reduce detonation.......

Someone try it on a 5.9!

would work excellent on a 3.9, 5.2 or 5.9l will have a gain of some sort. either in the ass dyno or mpg. the guy that taught me this mod has a 02 4.7l ho jeep grand cherokee. he boosted his mileage about 4mpg he said and the thing will pull alot harder then stock, and his jeep is all stock. i know there is 3 wires on the 4.7l, and im unsure which ones to use or if it matters on those either

im unsure about JET chips but i do know that JET chips are overridden by the pcm after time. with this mod, the pcm isnt going to override it. it actually thinks its that cold so it tricks it completly. still goes into closed loop and doesnt burn more fuel like i actually thought it should.

technically it would. except you would need a smaller resistor i believe. if the IAT reads lets say 220*F its going to retard the timing.

Ever wonder why our engines run great cold? then after we turn them off and run them again its a dog. its because it goes into closed loop reading the colder temp of the IAT b4 the manifold is hot then goes into closed loop running with that temp. after u shut down and turn back on its reading a hot temperature inside that manifold and retards the timing back cuz it thinks its actually 180*F. and goes back into closed loop like that making the truck a dog.

with the resistor shutting the truck off and turning it back on it will still read that constant temp and keep the timing always advanced for better mpg and always better power.

going with to high of a resistor (anything higher then 22k) will throw a CEL because the temps will be to far different from the coolant temp sensor and IAT.

I thought about trying this on my '94 with a 3.9...maybe I'll go to Radio Shack and pick up a couple of resistors.

Wonder if it will really work on pre-OBD II?
for 99 cents it honestly isnt gonna hurt anything but a waste of ur time and a little wiring repair if it doesnt. i honestly dont know how it would react to an older vehicle. it does have an IAT so i would imagine it would have the same effects but i havent tested or heard of it done on an older dodge/chrysler vehicle.

Umm...that's what my MSD BTM is for.......LOLz....up to 3 deg of retard for every # of boost......

hmm. how much did that MSD thing cost compared to a 99 cent resistor that could do about the samething your describing? :p

$200 along with the paxtamap fuel management, extra injectors, auxilary fuel pump, fuel lines, regulator, and fuel pressure guage......so I could say that I bought the fuel system, and got the BTM free..........LOLz.....how about that?

How many watts were these resistors you got?

pics please, i dont have a clue what i am buying or where i am putting it. i have the 3.9l and i am definetly going to try it
