Holy fucking SHIT! If you are using spintech headers, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND remflex for gaskets, they make a port plate gasket, and also the header gasket. For collector gaskets USE THE COPPER GASKETS from autozone or any other parts store.

It's not that I didn't know, I could see fire works going off at night between the head/header. I have been doing more body work and finally got the gaskets in for the port plates. Also, when you take the header/plates off, I would scuff them up, on the side that will see the gasket, it will give more of a BITE to the gasket, as the machine finish on the plates/header is way to freaking smooth.

I'll put it like this, before the header change, A/F was reading 15 @ idle, now it's @ 12. LOL

your tune went richer with an increase of air?

Ever try just high temp RTV?

Yah I'm confused on the tuning part as well. I felt more comfortable with an actual gasket instead of the rtv.
The leak was sucking in air, bumping the AF up. As soon as you fixed it, no more air, so the AF's richened up. If this beast is still computer controlled, the constant "lean" condition would make it dump a ton more fuel in, so that your new fuel trims with the problem fixed are really rich.

I haven't had headers on anything in a few years but a thin coat of ultra-copper on both sides of gasket and 10 minute set time before assembly was a perfect solution to headers that liked to eat gaskets.
I will get a picture of the port plates which had rtv on them next week when I am at the shop. The heat from the exhaust leak was eating through spark plug boot wires! The copper rtv didn't do anything, YES people have had it work with great results!! I for one would rather use a gasket versus rtv. These gaskets are crushable, and offer a NO LEAK guarantee. Considering it's over $100 in gaskets for both sides, they better not leak!

I'll be doing my passenger side header in a few hours. If for some reason the high temp copper RTV doesn't work I guess I'll give the Remflex port plate gaskets a try. You wouldn't happen to have a part number, would you?
