Every one I've seen has those wires up under the headliner, even if it didn't come with one. It should be plug and play. Just search. However, if it isn't there, I've read that they are simply pos and neg and the 3rd one is hooked to something that determines if you are in reverse. When you shift into reverse it shuts the auto-dim off. But it isn't really necessary, so can just be left unhooked. However, I have no clue which color is which off hand, or where I read it. I did however read it on this site somewhere.

You cant wire it up this way with that console look up a thread by jmack he made one for that console

His is for a 2000 mine is a 2001 his has 14 wires mine only has 7 wire
this is his writeup:

1) Blue with light blue tracer (Temp sensor signal wire)possibly black with light blue ive been informed mine might be faded???
2)Purple with green tracer (Temp sensor signal wire
3)Not used on mine. (2000 Dakota)
4)White with tan tracer (I believe brake lights cant remember though)
5)Pink (Interior lights)
6)Purple with black tracer (Reverse signal wire, turns auto-dim mirror off while in reverse)
7)Not used on mine. (2000 Dakota)
8)Large tan wire. (Used for power windows and I believe locks, i forget which)
9)Pink with blue tracer. (Unknown function)
10)Yellow (Interior lights
11)Black (ground)
12)Not used on mine (2000 Dakota)
13)Orange (Don't know)
14)Blue with white tracer. (Switched power 12v+ for overhead console.)

15 & 16) Twisted pair of wiring (CCD bus used for mileage info)

So, I need the correct wiring for the 01-up, 2000 must be the older style?

O/H console causing ctm prob?

I've installed my o/h console and had an intermitent connection on the pci bus wire but got that fixed. Now I have a fully functional console but I believe it has caused a problem with the central timer module. Once I got the console working the "service 4wd" warning light on the instrument panel came on and the auto door lock feature is not functioning when I put it in drive and take off. Could these problems be caused by the console? or could I possibly have messed up the ctm when installing the console. Can the dealer reset the ctm or do I have to buy a new one? Thanks for any help...LGKuda

Problem solved

Well I'm thoroughly confused now
idk if I wanna do it
Sorry if my post confused ya. It turns out that the fuse slot(#11) that I plugged the add-a-circuit into also controls the auto door locks, instrument panel brake light, and the TCCM. Once I moved the add-a-circuit to an empty slot and put the fuse back into slot #11 everything works fine including the dimming on the O/H console with the panel dimming thumb wheel. Sorry for all the confusion it was my dumb simple mistake

So is there is a possibility that the truck will have the plug up there?

My truck didn't come with the overhead computer, but it does have an ambient temp sensor on it.

It is an 04.
