I've had state farm for mayber over 20 years. I really like them...my local office staff is great. Every year I get some kind of a refund based on the fact they made a profit. Actually my kid bounced his new dodge ram off the lift at work and they covered the damage....over 4000.00. I thought that was dam cool of them. Like everything else i'm sure for every good story...there's also a bad. They handle everything for me.. house, cars, bikes....including all my kids stuff. No this isn't a comercial )

Shit....I lied...they don't cover my dak. it's covered for 50,000 thru grundy. State Farm doesn't insure special interest or custom vehicles

Dropped.

But that's not what pisses me off the most. That was almost expected after the accidents. Now they tell me that they were thinking of dropping us in 2002 after ONE ACCIDENT, but they didn't. So therefore since they gave us an "extension" once, they can't do it again. You can look back through my posts, and you'll see me bragging about how great State Farm has been to us. So 8 years after the fact, it's like finding out that a friend I have been defending has been talking about me behind my back for 8 years.

My agent (who is great, none of this is her fault), told me "this doesn't mean that we won't be able to insure you in the future...." The FUCK it doesn't. I won't give you assholes another dime. In fact, I'll be filing my liability claim for the first accident for the "Pain and suffering" that my kids and I have been through (chiropractor at least twice a week since the accident for all of us), and I'm gonna take you fuckers to the cleaners. I was kind of scared to file it before, thinking they might drop us. No worries now. But in all honesty, I am worried about my kids' necks. They don't seem to be getting all that much better. I know what it is like to live with a bad back, and I'm not excited to have my kids go through that.

Always been the cheapest for us. I've been with them ever since we got married and I got off my parents' insurance. 11 1/2 years. Geico has always been double for us, I've kept checking every few years.
Ok that makes sense now .. yeah I'd be pissed too ... I have had 3 loss claims and a few accidents and have not been dropped by progressive as of yet so I like them for now LOL

At least you dont have progressive. Any type of suspension mods such as lifting or lowering will be cause for denying a claim. oh almost forgot that includes traction bars.

Hmmm they have never said anything about my traction bars or asked if its lowered ...lol guess ill just keep my mouth shut :jester:

This is how I used to feel. I defended them every chance I got. But they had the lube ready and were just waiting for me to bend over.

My wife is a state farm agent....It's not the company that sucks....it's the individual agent...Everything I own is insured by state farm, plus my retirement, mutual funds. If your agent cares and knows what he/she is doing...they are a great company...

Bullshit. I absolutely love my agent. It is the underwriters that raped me in the ass.

Better read the fine print of your policy because if you get in a accident with those on the vehicle you may get denied. Thats what i was told when i read the fine print stating no traction bars/suspension modifications. Thats why im no longer with progressive. It also may have to do with your adgent/adjuster.

Which is what happened in my post above with the blown 4.7 motor...tires were not stock...they claimed "modified" tires...claim denied

Insurance companies are only required to return a vehicle back to factory stock in a accident. If you have modified the vehicle you need to inform the company. They will let you know what will be covered and what wont be covered. If you have put alot of money in your vehicle the only smart thing to do is insure it with a speciality carrier. To ensure you get the proper coverage.
If you are unfortunate to have many claims or offenses in a very short period of time. It is up to the underwriter as to wether or not to cancel the policy. 2 accidents in 20 days is very unusal, but from the companies point of view this creates a big loss ratio. And you become a liability to them, which they will not want.
I have State Farm myself, and also have worked for them in the past. I have recieved warning letters about being dropped due to claims history. Sometimes you can avoid it by speaking with your agent. But in your case with 2 accidents in 20 days. Things dont exactly good, I would almost bet any company would do the samething.
Wish you better luck in the future.
And remember this: You dont have to sign of on your children's claims till they are 18. That fact always scares insurance companies.

i used to have them as well. i thought their prices seemed high so i called them up one day and she looked through my policy and realized that i had qualified for two different discounts they forgot to give me for the past year. i told them piss off and switched to allstate

Hmmm, i guess ill let you guys know what they do to me. I have state farm also, and my truck just burnt down. I sent out my paperwork and about 60 pages worth of receipts for the claim im claiming 17,000$ What the truck is worth and 10k in mods. Not sure what they are going to do yet, but they do know my truck was modified and still decided to cover it. So i dont know.

The lady on the phone seemed to be cool about my truck being modified but they always "sound nice on the phone" lol.. Some guy came out and took photos of my truck for a good 30-40min and wrote down some shit.. he came at like 8am.. i work 2nd shift so this is when im in deep sleep.. i walked outside like a zombie.. pointed at the truck and walked back in and passed out. Now i want to know what he wrote down.

I have gotten like 10+ tickets, and 3 accidents, one claim was 4k, the other was 7k + they had to pay for a telephone poll that i broke, and now this... 17k I have no idea how its going to end up.

My parents have been with them since they were 16 and my dad is 45 now so thats what 29 years... with the same agent.

That sucks....sorry to hear about your truck. They are only responsible for book value. I don't remember exactly what year it was....but my 98 at some point was only worth 12,000 book value. I had 8800.00 worth of damage with an inflated bodyshop estimate. In jersey hey are only rquired to pay up I think it was 70% of book before totaling her. At the time I had 30,000 or so in reciepts....they ended up paying but is was down to the wire. Now I have special interest insurance with grundy and have her insured for 50,000. The policy comes with restrictions like I think 4000 miles a year, it has to be alarmed, parked in an alarmed garage and can't be left in a parking lot unless I'm at a cruize night or show.....but's that's ok, that's the only time I drive her. Hopefully I'll never have a claim to see how they really are.

eh the last truck was lowred and i was in mulitple accidents .. they covered me for everything!

Geico rocks

They got me the cheapest prices I ever paid for an unmarried apartment-renter male in his 20s with a V8 pickup. Still with them. I believe they beat their closest competitor at the time by nearly 600 bucks. I think as long as you tell them about mods prior to the accident and it's something permanently bolted or secured to the vehicle, they insure up to like 5000 worth of stuff for free. Then your rates go up for any mod value above that. I had my stereo system, step bars, rims, and exhaust covered and it didn't cost me an extra dime.

Fiance hydrolocked her Acura in December. They came out, watched the water pour out of the motor, and covered it under collision/comprehensive without batting an eye.

Then of course, I've never turned a truck into a race vehicle without telling them and don't get caught when I speed. Also haven't hit anything in like 8-9 years. If I was an ins co. and I realized the vehicle was modified to live life a quarter mile at a time and you were only supposed to be driving it back and fourth to work and the grocery store, I would probably figure you didn't spend thousands of dollars on that stuff if you didn't plan to go racing. I'd drop you too rather than continue to assume liability for what appeared to be an obvious track vehicle.

Now I know these companies don't just give blanket policies for whatever. Just from shopping round for cheaper prices, I've been insured by about 5 different companies including Geico, Liberty Mutual, and Allstate and don't recall dealing with one yet that DIDN'T want to know what the vehicle is used for. If your preference is to tell them grocery getter, then mod it and take it to the track every weekend and run it back and fourth at 100 mph-plus while keeping it under a cheaper conventional policy, be prepared for the consequences if something happens under the wrong circumstances and they find out what's going on. Why blame them for figuring out that you've tricked them into assuming more risk than they agreed to.

Kinda like how there's an awful lot of of work trucks out there that are only supposed to be used on the job for insurance purposes, but many of them are also daily drivers. Heard of one guy that had a mis-hap at the boat slip with his 'work van' and ended up submerging it. Wonder how he tried to explain that one. Maybe he's out there complaining because his company screwed him.

Tell me more. PM if you wish. Think I'll be calling a lawyer on Monday also.

It's so odd how everyone's rates are different. Geico has always been literally double, I've checked every year or so. Plus they don't offer as many discounts like for renters and home owners and multi-car.

I know every individual is different. It's just funny that for Customer A, Geico is cheaper and Nationwide is twice as much, then for Customer B, State Farm is the cheapest and Geico is twice as much, etc, etc.

They must all run different actuary tables to see what your risk is. Because it is odd that different companies would be cheaper for different people. It seems to me that if they weighed the risk factors the same, Company X should be cheaper for everyone and Company Y should be doubt that amount.

yeah it is crazy, when I first checked State Farm 8 or 9 years ago they wanted something like $800 a MONTH! wtf ..lol

im with nationwide and i cant complain compared to others ive had and cussed out, i drove my dak to the agent office and she looked into everything and gave me every discount she could -and a lil more-, got $1500 extra coverage added i didnt even ask for to cover the custom of the dak.

recently the dak got hit with gravel from a dump truck, put in the claim -also got 2 speedin tickets in the past 3 yrs- and afterwards i had 2 agents call me in 5 mins to get things movin, ive only been treated like this once before from state farm on someones else's fault accident and even tho i had a few aftermarket parts the truck got returned to the shape it was before
